PowerSToKed
The truck has 560000 miles on it, short block replaced about 45000 miles ago, original top end. Customer had all 8 injectors replaced 4000 miles ago as well as having the turbo cleaned, about 2000 miles ago this squeak noise started, he replaced the alternator, belt tensioner, idlers and belt... noise still present. It only makes noise at operating temp, I took the belt loose and the noise does not go away, the noise is best heard through a 3/4 hose placed between the #5 and #7 injector connectors. I removed the rs valve cover - NPF with valve train, I found the EGR cooler rear bracket that bolts to the rear of the intake broke on both sides, I replaced the straight up pipe and the EGR cooler thinking the flex joint in the up pipe was allowing the broke EGR bracket to squeak - nope noise is still present at operating temp. The customer talked to some other Techs that told him it was probably a bad injector but I have never heard an injector make any kind of squeak noise and the truck runs perfect. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Brad Clayton
Cracked pistons will squeak, like a mouse on a tread wheel.
Alex Bruene
Lifter getting ready to poop the mattress? Sounds like it to me. I find 6.0 lifters sometimes make a few extra squeeks as the engine comes to a stop after shutting it off.
lmorris
+1 on the lifter, possible camshaft damage to watch for.
Matt Saunoras
My truck squeeks as the engine stops. I've never heard another 6.0 do this but I wasn't even a little concerned about it until now.
