Keith Browning
Article published! I had to change bung to boss becuz that is the actual term for this part though I do prefer the word bung. A big Thank You! goes out to Jeff E for his contribution to the article and for supplying some bosses. MUCH appreciated.

Matt Saunoras
Used one of my bungs today. Didn't remove the whole DPF just lowered it enough to get in there.

Keith Browning
I finally had an opportunity to repair one of these as I snapped off EGT-13 in it! But, I had to braze it on which worked fine. I whacked it with a hammer a couple of times and It is solid. Doesn't look pretty either but it doesn't have to. Why braze? Because I do not have a welder nor does my dealership. As a matter of fact we don't even have a brazing tip for our torch. Yep. Did it with a cutting tip! Matt Saunoras
Yeah brazing would be fine for that application. I'm shocked you don't have a brazing tip, I almost never use the cutting tip anymore. Just to heat something up the smaller tip seems much more precise. I've never actually brazed with a brazing tip but I do intend on trying it some day.
forddieseldoctor
I welded one up yesterday with a used bung off the dpf I took out. Oh the joys of putting a used dpf/cat assy on. But the truck is fixed and actually runs more than 10 seconds.
