Keith Browning
Does anyone know if all the 6.7L engines come with block heaters installed from the factory like the Navistar engines did? Someone asked me if he needed to only buy a cord or a cord and heater element.
Bruce Amacker
The sales/service info says it’s standard but it’s not. 2012 info says (Std. in AK, CO, IA, ID, ME, MI, MN, MT, ND, NH, NY, SD, VT, WI, WY) They come with a plug in the block. Element - Ford PN: BC3Z-6A051-A ($30.43)Cord - Ford PN: BC3Z-6B018-C ( $135.77) The ZeroStart P/N is 3500069, $60 or so. Installing it will require a 9/16” Allen socket, it’s in a tough place above the starter, removing the wheelwell helps. On Chrome 'cause my IE7 doesn't like the new website. The field highlighted in bold red is what I'm noticing seems to be the more frequently required regularly removed item on these trucks for any type of servicing of engine components on these engines, or is it just me? My biggest pet peeve thus far are those damn plastic insulator shield retainers. Hard as hell to remove, not to mention being in difficult to access areas. Sorry for the hijack. Brad Clayton
I just looked on our lot and we don't have a single truck with a block heater, only plugs. All the long blocks I have replaced are plugged off also.
lmorris
I have never seen a block heater come as standard equipment. The sales department here has to add it to every vehicle they order, unless the customer states not to.
Keith Browning
The coffee Table Book states:"The engine block heater is standard on every engine. The power cord is an optional accessory."
Matt Saunoras
You have to have it ordered with the veh. Not sure if it's part of an equipment package but we had quite a few customers complain about this. I've installed several, just remember that the block plug takes a 9/16" hex socket (allen). I found out pretty quickly that it's not a common size but 14mm will work too.
Keith Browning
I had an early build truck come in with the heater leaking. Only needed tightening but it is behind the starter.
