snw blue by you
SSM 18901. Am I to understand that as of 5-16-05 the diesels no longer have a fuel heater, or am I not reading the message correctly? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hitthefan.gif
Jim Warman
OASIS is down right now (at least the SSM look-up)... I certainly can't see my area doing without a fuel heater....
6.0n7.3strokers
That is correct. They no longer have fuel heaters in the fuel pump header. Apparently, the fuel gets heated enough by the engine when it gets pressurized, and by the warmth of the engine itself. Has anybody else had problems with finding some sort of white gel like substance in the headers? It also triggers the water in fuel light. I had an '06 come in the other day with 12,000 miles on it, and the water in fuel light was on. I tried reprogramming but it was still on. I pulled the header and there was that white gel like stuff packed in the bottom of it....
Keith Browning
Yes, I have seen that white cottage cheese looking deposits in the fuel water seperator. It has to be moisture reacting with someting in the fuel. When it builds up enough it reduces the water seperators capacity and contaminates the sensor. As for the heater I read the SSM too. I actually think it was un needed in the first place because of the engine heat as mentioned. If anyone is going to notice it's missing it will be our friends to the North when they fire up their trucks on a frigid ten below morning! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif
