FordMastertech
6.0L Diesel After Market Modifications causing DTC P0402 - 2005 - 2006 - F-Super Duty, Excursion, E-Series Article 1-A-2006 A review of warranty repairs has shown that Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valves, Exhaust Pressure (EP) Sensors, and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors are being replaced on 6.0L vehicles that have modified or aftermarket air intake, exhaust, and/or powertrain control systems. These parts are being replaced because Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0402 is set in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). SSM 18872, published 10/11/2005, describes this concern and instructs dealers not to replace components under warranty when vehicles are modified, because the modification can cause DTC P0402 to be set and will affect diagnostic test results. Category: Engine: Electronic Controls Do: Use SSM 18872 for DTC P0402 under warranty. Don't: Diagnose and repair vehicles with DTC P0402 under warranty without checking for vehicle modifications. Imagine that. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/boxing.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hitthefan.gif FMT
