the_twig_187
having a really hard time finding a part number for the valve cover wedge that keeps the inside of the injector Harness from backing out of the valve cover connector. anyone know what the part # is? I thought it was a TSB back in the day but I cant find that either thanks Chris
Matt Saunoras
From the under cover harness to the valve cover gasket.
Buddy_M
Don't use it with a new harness, you will break the tab off(Done it myself). The new harness has a raised part under the tab so these aren't needed. However if I come across a truck with a loose harness, I quote for a new harness. Hard to say if the pin sockets are worn as well and still may present a problem to the customer after a short time.

Matt Saunoras
I install them if I'm under the covers for something else not related to the wiring, kind of as preventative not for a repair.
the_twig_187
so this is the new updated retaining wedge, it is much larger and fatter than the original clips.
tonybullitt
Interesting Could you get a picture of that installed? I haven't put a wedge in for years. When I have any concerns with wiring I have been replacing the uvc and gasket.
Fordracer
That looks like the retainer for the valve cover connector outside of the valve cover not the one under the valve cover.
Matt Saunoras
The parts catalog is wrong when listing the wedge, the part I have taken a picture of is the correct part. The 1C3Z number is the external wedge.
the_twig_187
yah that wedge is not for the inside of the valve cover. another tech had the proper wedge in his goodies bin and I was able to use that one to repair the vehicle. I had the parts guy run the number on the picture Matt posted and the cpu says the part is discontinued and was not replaced by another part so im not sure how you would get a hold of a wedge anymore? perhaps they want us to replace the inside harness and gasket as the fix
Matt Saunoras
Really? I just got that pack in last month. DOW shows 669 units left. Ontario shows
Bruce Amacker
That wedge was crazy expensive the last I checked a long time ago, I use a pair of 4" tie wraps to lock the connector together. I have pics and the wedge PN at home but not with me now......
DieselD
typically just been replacing the harness on them if they come loose. With the age and mileage of the 7.3 now days its cheap insurance
