Jeff Clyde
does anyone know if an 03 short block will work for an 06 truck ? Heads, branch tube, hpop etc would be transferred.
Matt Saunoras
Probably yes. The only differences I can think of are the 03 pistons and cam are slightly different (but only for emissions reasons?)... and the upper oil pan has extra bolts holding it to the bedplate. I doubt any of this will matter as long as you use all the remaining stuff from the 06. I would swap in a new set of lifter guides at the very least. Bruce Amacker
Didn't the 03-04 combustion chamber change, which is what made the pistons different? Are the heads the same? I know the GPs are different.
Jeff Clyde
The newer model glow plugs are 1mm (iirc), to prevent contact with the change in bowl design of the piston. 18mm heads are the same I believe, but do remember a camshaft difference.
