Keith Browning
Never came across this before. A buddy of mine has a 2005 Sierra that needs an ABS sensor. Came across this and stopped him dead in his tracks. Asked me about it and my mind went blank.
amailloux
All of the gm sensors I have seen are hex. I will say that if the hub is aftermarket, sometimes a oem sensor will not have the correct air gap and will cause false activation. I have seen some with shims also. If in doubt, I sell a hub. We had a lazy guy that would unbolt the sensor from the hub, throw the new sensor away and bolt the old sensor into the new hub so he didnt have to get to the electrical connector. That seemed to cause a lot of problems in the 2 months he worked here.
Matt Saunoras
My guess is that's what happens when you jam a torx somewhere it shouldn't be and round it out.
jimmy57
I've run cross those in some places. MAF sensors on some Euro brands use pentagon and some have 5 point version of torx.
8WA Sman
X2 on what Alan posted. I would just use a turbo socket to remove that old bolt. Also you may want to check TSB 03-05-25-007D on sensor rust jacking.
