INFORMATION

Defer  Windows 10 Upgrades for All Computers Used to Access Ford Applications

 

ACTION REQUESTED

• Do not upgrade the computers used to access Ford applications to Windows 10 until Ford Motor Company confirms compatibility for all dealer facing applications in Windows 10 and Edge browser.  The disposition on Windows 10 will be posted on the FMCDealer after the testing of all Dealer facing applications is completed on Windows 10.
• If you have signed up for the auto update to Windows 10, you are requested to cancel Windows 10 upgrade reservations on Computers using Ford facing applications at this time and request them later. For more information please see the Windows 10 FAQs for reference.
• Follow the current Ford addendum to the STAR Dealer infrastructure guidelines located at: Sales/Dealership Operations/Dealer Infrastructure Guidelines.
• Please also check the status of the Windows 10 compatibility of your DMS (Dealer Management System) with your DMS provider before you upgrade your computers.

SUMMARY

Microsoft is offering Windows 10 upgrade beginning July 29th (upgrade available for one year). The Ford IT teams are testing their entire dealer facing applications portfolio to ensure compatibility. The Dealerships should wait to upgrade until Ford IT has tested all dealer facing applications and determined compatibility.

 

The recommendation is to follow the latest version of the Dealer Infrastructure Guidelines posted on the dealer portal – FMCDealer at the link provided above.
