blown99
2005 6.0 that cranks but doesn't start. It also has a light on the dash lit up that says TBC. What does the TBC stand for? The customer gives it a shot of starting fluid and it starts up and runs fine. I am guessing a high pressure oil system problem, but will have to wait and see if the customer brings the truck in to us. Just curious about the TBC light. DieselD
TBC=trailer brake controller. why do customers feel the need to use starting fluid? I had one guy use so much it filled the turbo full of it. If it dosent start just bring it in! Seems simple to me. Its about as bad as the guys that crank on it til the batterys go dead and wonder why.
Jim Warman
TBC stands for Trailer Brake Controller.... This is the integrated trailer brake control offered as an option on the SuperDuty. If you are going to work on this part, a scan tool that can do the TBC module is going to be a big help.... Knowing that there is s switch on the master cylinder will help, too.... I've seen the TBC light come on during an extended crank of like 20-25 seconds building oil pressure after injector replacement. If he's cranking the crud out of it trying to start it with a HP oil leak it's gonna come on, good chance after you fix the starting problem it will go away on it own.
