Keith Browning
Sounds similar to the one I had where the customer brought his truck to Circuit City to install an new stereo system with a power amp in the back. Long story short; the hole they drilled through the harness and firewall grommet to pass the amplifier power cable through cut about 12 circuits shorting many together. This caused a few strange things to happen like no starting, warning lights and running with the key off... all different things and at random! Before I found the "whoops" I swore the truck was possessed! Concerning your nightmare, it sounds like the PCM and FICM are not powering down. The most obvious possibility looking at the schematic... with the key OFF I would begin looking for power at circuit 16 from the ignition switch which feeds power to both the PCM and FICM... faulty ignition SW., short in the wiring and I suppose that even the FICM could be back feeding power to that circuit too. That is an assumption that it's even possible that the module can do that though but hey, you can't rule out weird stuff like that.
DieselD
you said remote start? might take a look at the aftermarket alarm as well. Did this just start when he had this alarm installed?
DamageINC
Yeah, obviously there are a myriad of things that could go wrong and cause this but I think you narrowed the field down pretty good when you mentioned "remote start"... tecanic1
little up date ...after two diesel techs spent many hours pondering and talking and test we think we nailed to the central junction box .......we can pull the eec relay and truck keeps running....traced to pin 87 circuit 316 having power all teh time ...we took the fuse panel out and unplugged all connectors but the power post from the battery to power the central junction box we still have power at the relay with evrything disconnected??????? ordered new panel for monday ....god i hope this fixes it ..thanks for the input
Jim Warman
The first order of the day is to take the aftermarket accessories out of the picture.. next is to look for what might have been compromised by the installer.... With this stuff out of the picture, we can start to rely on our Ford documentation.... Had an Escape (about an 03 or 04) not too long ago.... Radio stayed on even after the door was opened.... the installer somehow found out that pushing in the lighter would kill the radio.... but it would come back on when the lighter was pulled out. Strange that the delay relay would decide to short out during a remote start install...
