tonybullitt
Got a customer that wants me to replace his turbo on his gmc wrecker. I have never done any thing to a duramax what are your thoughts? What do I need for parts besides turbo?
Brad Clayton
You need to lace up your tennis shoes nice and tight and..............RUN (in the opposite direction).
scott1984
They are a pain on the LMM transmission has to come out cause of a coolant tube runs directly over the turbo. If its a LBZ still bad but you can get it out just gotta go the pass. side wheel well to get the pipes loose. Need several 12mm 12 point sockets for all the pipes but the down pipe. exmod110
cab lift or partial cab lift was mentioned to me about these from a GM tech long time ago. but that would have been an earlier Dmax though.
tonybullitt
Good advise Brad, problem is I don't own any tennis shoes. Turbo is ordered so will find out soon enough.
Brad Clayton
LOL. I hear ya. Alldata shows over 12 hours to change one of them things. That is a bad indicator.
8WA Sman
Have fun with the wiring, GM does not know how to make bulkhead connectors or any connector. If you need any parts after you get in there be prepared to wait a couple of days.
sneakypete
what is the vin number of the engine. I'd assume its a LMM. 07 is a split year for new and old body. lifting the cab is the easiest way for these. quick list of the top of my head: exhaust gaskets for the exhaust manifold to turbo pipes (4 gaskets total); egr valve cooler gasket; t/c oil line washers (x2); oil return pipe gaskets (x2) at the flywheel housing and turbo; t/b coolant pipe washer. I'm sure I'm missing something but that will help get you started.
