05 lcf with dtc 525 injector driver curcuit fault

This truck has an intermittent loss of throttle.It is an active code. We have no manual on these trucks. Any ideas?

The PCED tells you to replace the FICM for this code. There are no diagnostic pinpoint tests for it.

From IH's OnCommand service info;

DTC 525

IDM fault

DTC 525 is set by the ECM when there is an internal IDM failure. When DTC 525 is set, replace the IDM.

When DTC 525 is active the amber lamp (WEL for CF) is illuminated. 

 

 

  I agree, but they get a lot of money for those, I'd double check powers and grounds first to sleep better.  E-mail me for more service info. Also, the loss of throttle and 525 may or may not be related. IH has a LOT of problems in their bigger trucks with loss of throttle issues that are not related to the IDM.

Do you need medium duty software to program the idm? Ids will not cummunicate with this truck. Is it special software from Ford?

Yes you do. And you need a different communications module for the PCM/IDM. If you have PTS access go to Rotunda/Diagnostic tool support/Medium duty truck diagnostics. You should find all you need to know there. Have you tried to run it with the new IDM, most come pre-programmed?
