forddieseldoctor
My current service manager informed me today that we are gonna start selling brake system flushes as part of our regular maintenance items. I am worried about getting bleeders open. About 10 years ago a previous BG sales rep told me about a shop on the other end of his route that had a kit that had a pin that you pounded into the bleeder and it was supposed to make it easier to get it out. After asking one of my tool dealers about it and getting little more than a blank stare I did a quick internet search. I came up with a couple of different kits. My question is do these things actually work and are they worth the $60 or $70? And who's kit is everyone else using?
8WA Sman
No idea if the kits work but in my experience & demographic, if the bleeder is stuck to the point that the normal ticks can't get it loose it gets a caliper. Chances are the caliper has other problems but I don't sell brake fluid flushes as a maintenance item, I do them only if recommended when doing brake repairs. forddieseldoctor
The extractors are meant to take the place of heating the bleeder to get it loose. We see lots of bleeders stuck on perfectly good calipers.
