tonybullitt
Got the above truck towed in crank no start. Found the throttle body stuck closed. No big deal went to parts to make an estimate and they say obsolete. Salvage yard we use doesn't have any. I removed t body pulled the plate out of it reinstalled. Test drove no ill effects. I know the t body is just for egr but am concerned about just saying it's ok this way. Anyone have experience with this?
8WA Sman
Is there an IH number by any chance?
tonybullitt
Didn't think of that! I will have to look and see if parts could get it that way.
cbriggs
I take them out all the time. They run perfectly fine without them, any codes it sets are non MIL codes.

I do the same. Remove plate, I haven't had any come back on me yet.
JoeR
...and this is why I love it here. I'd have never suspected it could have been removed like that. At least not without some kind of penalty. Joe
Bruce Amacker
I'm pretty sure all the later flash levels made that system inop anyway, it went from functional to non-functional (but present) to imaginary (wiring present, no motor or plate) to not present between 04 and 06. Weird progression for an emissions system........
miketremblay
I WAS TOLD BY HOT LINE TO REMOVE THE PLATE, THERE INOP WITH THE NEW FLASHES, HAD THE SAME THING WITH THAT PLATE STUCK
tonybullitt
Customer found a t body at a salvage yard so I ended up replacing it on this truck.
