kbomb2788
Good afternoon and hope you all are safer. I need some advice. This is first time in 12 years I've ever head a oil cooler come back. I had done the flush with cleaners and such. Multiple times pulling block plugs all the times and still comes back with oil cooler restricted. My ECT and eot correlates. I put a coolant filter and this is what I have on it. My buddy says check the water pump for cavitation. (That might explain metal flakes) what's that black stuff... Has new t stats. Thank you
Keith Browning
I would guess the black pieces if plastic could be from the water pump impeller. Did you remove it and inspect it and the front cover?
kbomb2788
Well looks like the water pump slipped on shaft and kept making contact with front cover. The bearing is fine
lmorris
Front cover contact is considered normal. As long as there are no visible chunks missing off the impellers, that water pump looks good. No signs of cavitation in the front cover. I would say that is not the source of the plastic. Are the black flakes hard plastic or rubber?
