jim
Going to diesel engine performance school next month. What should I expect, or anything I should catch up on before I go?
Keith Browning
I would take/re-take the web courses on FMC Dealer. Have your STARS I.D. ready and login to the web based training. I recommend taking these courses: [*]51S-UPDATE - Diesel Engine Update [*]51S03W0 - Diesel Engine Theory and Operation [*]51S04W0 - Diesel Fuel Supply/Injection Operation and Testing [*]51S05W0 - Diesel Air Inlet & Exhaust Operation & Testing [*]51S07W0 - 6.0L Diesel Diagnosis [*]51S06W0 - 7.3L Diesel Diagnosis [*]51S09W0 - Diesel Diagnostic Procedures [*]52S-UPDATE - Diesel Engine Repair Update [*]52S01W0 - Diesel Engine Repair
Jim Warman
When you guys south of the 49th go to school, how big are the classes? Ours are 12 students and we break into groups of three for the practical exercises. This seems to be an ideal size and allows for lots of interaction between the instructor and us grunts.... far be it from me to offer any disruptions. The only thing I can offer in addition to Keiths suggestions is if you still have the old FMTs hanging around. I have GCMS on my home computer and, occassionally, I'll bring home an FMT disc and play with it. This is especially handy for those things I rarely get to work on (read that as anything with spark plugs).
caper
When I was working at the local ford dealership I used to have GCMS at home as well so that I could do my Fmt's at home.I made copies of the fmt's so I would have them for my son to use while he is taking auto repair in high school. That's where the smarts ended though because I forgot to copy the main disc and since that computer crashed I now have a bunch of unusable fmt's and a son thats not to impressed with dear old dad. Keith Browning
I liked the old GCMS courses but the WEB courses are similar and definitely better. I still have it loaded on my PC but it's probably been two years since I used it. Do you need a "back-up" copy of the GCMS disk?
caper
ford doctor a "back up copy" would probably come in pretty handy since I don't have access to the web courses anymore.I was only some classroom courses away from my masters when the dom and I had words and I left for greener pastures.Maybe I could trade some of my "backup" copies of my Intrnational disks for a copy of gcms.
