ChristopherH
I had forgotten about the power steering fluid and they also sell the little bottle of power steering additive--and it really does help get rid of that nice Ford power steering whine. Keith Browning
I had forgotten about the power steering fluid and they also sell the little bottle of power steering additive--and it really does help get rid of that nice Ford power steering whine. Do you think it can help with LCF's and that whining they all have?
sixturbosix
This may sound crazy but when I in 6.4l class a few months ago there were some techs from Florida telling the instructor that they were taking the air filter element out but leaving the side with the air restriction guage back to the turbo on.They had cut a board with a smaller hole in it and place it against the housing and were spraying the Motocraft carb cleaner in the can (has kind of a foammy oil look to it when sprayed)through slowly.Smaller hole in board is suppose to keep it from running away or reving high.Said two cans clean the hell out of the egr and intake system.Has anyone else heard of this I am affraid to try. James_Casey
BG does have an oil treatment you run in engine for 20 minutes before LOF, and a Diesel oil addative you run after. Have tried a few times for the hard start miss cold. Has fixed maybe half of them.
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
But I think the question here is... Did the customer extend the interval on purpose or by mistake??? Is this going to repair or fix the original problem or just a bandaid fix???
Jim Warman
We recently purchased the Wynns Extend intake conditioner... I am.... errrrrrr... I have my own view for these sorts of services... I don't think the engineers intentionally design a system that is going to require that we regularly dump strange chemical concoctions into various orofices on our vehicles. However, when we buy a "penis enlarger" (be it a diesel pick up or a performance car) and use it for something other than what it was intended for, we will create concerns that weren't anticipated. Add.... "back in the day" most things were "overbuilt"... The bean counters and engineers joined forcesand decided that "purpose building" would save production costs.... You could get a 272 cherry red (well, nearly) and use a hubcap to top off the radiator with ditch water and there was every chance that the engine would survive... today, get a motor "warm" and, at the very least, the heads will be toast... Remember the GM 2.8 V6? A bad rod bearing would destroy the cylinder block.... Today - engines, transmissions, third members - all of these are so very close to self destruction under "normal"conditions. Ideal condition service intervals have been extended - but how many of us drive in ideal conditions? Yes...some of these "wallet flushes" serve a purpose... but, if we did what was smart, there would be no purpose.

LARRY BRUDZYNSKI
ding ding ding....Give that man a cigar. Can you imagine what that would do to the cooling systems in the newer diesels.
