Steve Mutter Posted March 4, 2007 Share Posted March 4, 2007 I just read an ssm about low ash oil breaking down sooner then the old stuff, I think it said the oil change time was cut in half,what are you guys telling your customers. the instructor at are 6.4 into class couldn't even give us a time put in stone? Jim Warman Posted March 5, 2007 Share Posted March 5, 2007 If we read the SSM carefully, it refers to LSD fuel. Since we are supposed to be getting ULSD fuel, I wouldn't get too concerned. Brad Clayton Posted March 6, 2007 Share Posted March 6, 2007 I talked to a group of field service engineers the other day, and they said that trucks running lsd must follow the severe duty interval or sooner. Here in bfe we still have plenty of low sulfer fuel but we have swapped to the low ash oil. Most of our customers work their trucks hard so they change 'em pretty frequently anyway.
