Keith Browning
So I was discussing the 2008 trucks with one of our commercial truck sales reps who has about 5500 miles on his demo. He drives mostly all highway and was getting around 9 mpg to start with and now it's creeping up to 15 mpg. He mentioned that he was told the "Ford" programs these engines to run a little rich for the first 10,000 miles which should suggest fuel economy will improve. Anybody hear anything like that? DwayneGorniak
They call it a fuel enrichment program. I have heard about this theory since 1997 when they changed to the new body style and the overhead cam engines in the F-150's. Whether or not it's true, I can't remember anymore. As for 6.4L, 15mpg is pretty darn good. They seem to get about 4-5 mpg during regen, 9 mpg towing and 15 empty. These are the numbers I am getting from all my customers. $70,000.00 for a new truck and the fuel prices, I'll keep my 7.3L.
Tony302600
I'm doing the reprogram recall on a IDOT 6.4 F-250, says 13.1MPPG andit only has 5100miles on it.
