Keith Browning
Step into the Way-back machine to April 27, 2005 when a letter was issued to all Ford certified diesel technicians containing a $50.00 certificate to use in the RTTP site. I am sure you all remember, it was a gift and all some guys could do is complain that it was only $50.00! But that is not why I brought this up. Quiet Jim! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif Well, the recent fire in my shop has everybody cleaning and organizing so I decided to remove 15 years of crap that accumulated since I bought my current tool box. Freed up 4 drawers too! I came across that letter with the certificate number on it then I checked the date. Wow! I tucked this letter away 25 months ago and completely forgot about it. Could it still be good? I thought what the hell and off to the RTTP I go and selected $54.00 worth of small useful items. Went to check out and the certificate was still good! The extra $3 I charged on my Ford award Master Card with the cash from the "Spin to Win" contest last year. That reminds me, I should check the balance on that card. I like the fact that shipping is FREE on all orders now. Thought I would share this story, it made my day. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/king.gif
DieselD
finding free money is nice. I like the points you get for masters and senior masters. I racked up a couple hundreds bucks with that. bought a nice new impact for practically free
Jim Warman
Awww, Kieth, I wouldn't say anything nasty about those that cry about what they DON'T have rather than enjoy what they do have.... Not me.... Nosirreee... AFAIK, there are currently no promotions for Canadian techs... On a brighter note, we did have our own version of spin to win late last year... Both the SM and I won a set of BBQ tools. They we made in some tropical, 3rd world country and the wood used on the handles has a........ an, ahhhhh, ummm, a rather unique odour.... OK, so I lied.... Yes, I like my pockets... I love it when people fill my pockets with coin of the realm...... But if this were to be my main, #1 criteria, my pockets would never be full enough... Treat your customers the way you would expect to be treated.... Act like a professional.... Be prepared to explain things in laymans terms.... Make yourself invaluable (but don't ever expect to be irreplaceable).... Pick your employer carefully... find one that has his customer satisfaction standards. When I got this job, I told the DP that my customers are the most important people to me.... THEY pay my wages....
GregH
Speaking of $50 RTTP certificates, I got one yesterday. It had a note of thanks on it, signed by the two engineers who helped me out with that 6.4L software issue I posted about a while ago... It was a nice gesture... Keith Browning
Very nice gesture indeed! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif Should make you feel a little better about the time and aggravation it cost you, no?
