Jim Warman Posted May 26, 2007 Share Posted May 26, 2007 From my understanding, we can use a standard fuel injector in #8 with no ill effects but using a long lead injector in other cylinders would overfuel those cylinders.... The long lead injector is a split shot design (as are all 7.3 injectors since - IIRC - the late 90s) and delivers more fuel in the "pilot" injection than a standard injector.... You may be right, but my understanding is a bit different. The split shot is delayed, same fuel delivered, but delayed a bit to allow oil pressure to return after being slightly depleted by #6 firing just before it.
