  1. just had a 17 with a bad cylinder head gasket. truck was stock ( no performance parts/flash) YOU should be able to get it to build high cooling system pressure when the engines cold as well IF you have a gasket issue. I power braked it (f550 with a ultility box) and the pressure gauge would climb like a boost gauge.
  2. ive done a lot of clutches, straight forward. I leave the shroud in and unbolt the fan from the clutch. be careful witht he harness and connector attached to the long 13mm w/p bolt
  3. after letting the truck sit and at 4am i can navigate nyc streets at 5mph i tried the procedure again and it went away. still not confident on what just happened lol
  4. what does the dpf pressure pid read? what about the ebp?
  5. ive done close to a dozen now, both for sensor failure and oil leaks!
  6. it sucessfully regened but light didnt go away, here in nyc we drive slow lol but i cant limp it at 4mph to be continued for now
  7. morning all, have the engine idle only see manual fault on the dash. found a later pcm recal and tsb-14-0192 so I updated the pcm and followed the tsb 2x now and cant see to get it clear. made sure it was a cold soak, verified pid for reduct pressure was zero then watched it come up. as the injector square wave started I limped it around until it stopped then parked it revved it to 2k and waited for egt14 to reach 311*. well it reached it and then nothing I kept it going wil it reached 380*(15-20 mins after it hit 311*) and nothing. I did notice after it hit the set "311*" the injector would cycle every few seconds, I thought it was carrying out its own test but alas itll do it till it runs out of fuel. NO dtc's and I verified the def level is full and clean. what am I missing? thanks.
  8. after using the last resort (google) i cam across some info also pointing to the mass air aswell. ill chk it in the morning. thanks
  9. Truck came in crank no start, long story short dpf was plugged and the back end was starting to melt. Typical codes for soot accumlation and pressure performance. Installed a new dpf and all new sensors, reset the scr and dpf functions but it still throws a code p2463 soot accumulation within a minute of running. Dpf pressure was .05 and within 3 minutes pf running is .30 and inferred load is 150%. And says drive to clean exhuast. Almost makes me think i got a dirty motor. Seems to run ok but i did notice i have 2 injectors with +.02-3 grams of fuel at idle. Any run into his? Side note trucks been black listed by ford. 40k miles and 8000 hours its on its 2nd possible third engine
  10. just finished one, was pretty easy knock the belt off and pulled the pump from the fender well.
  11. the gaskets used in the dorman egr and oil cooler kits are bad news, ive never seen one do that BUT the Chinese egr cooler inlet hoses don't make it a month usually lol
  12. Update, just a fuck ton of air. I stuck a long trans funnel init and filled that halfway up. Took 20 mins pf sawing the wheel back and fourth
  13. Stuck fan clutch? Ive replaced a ton of them. Check the fan rpm vs engine rpm vs commanded % Raide the engine to 1200 rpm and the fan should only read like 6 or 700 rpm if its good from what i remember.
  14. Ill inspect all the hose/line connections when i get back to it in the next few days Thanks for the input
  15. I apologize for the terrible grammar i just proof read that
  16. 2012 f550 6.7 towed in with complaint of ps fluid erripting from the resv. Verify it does and the pump makes a ton of nouse since its been running dry for a while. Flush the system install a new pump start it up and its quiet and i have power assist back. BUT i noriced afrer a few min of normal bleeding the pumps anoittle noisey like low on fluid and the resv. Has a lot of fluid churrning init . Ive never had one with this much air if it is air. All lines look food. Should i give it some more run rime?
  17. how about a torque converter issue? and boost pressure, can you verify the map is correct? have you done a turbo boost test?
  18. just saw this thread, it was mentioned today at a monthly "whats going on" meeting, since mid 2014 we have installed 26 reman 6.4 engines, 5 didnt make it 2 weeks before it needed another reman ( come in with torched holes or busted pistons and rods) and 11 more didnt make it 6 months with out some type of major failure. If it makes it past the 6 month mark its a good piece. lol i was told that the people rebuilding the remans for ford cant fix lunch nevermind machine and clearance a engine.
  19. just had one towed in for the same issue. popped on a new cac tube, cranked and it would sputter a bit and die. while cranking i had 43PSI on the EBP pid. turbo exploded. replaced that and the doc (damaged) and all is well.
  20. Sorry for the delayed response I am! 58th st. Good to know we arent the only ones lol
  21. We have our own fill stations approx 15 in all, and the fdny has more tanks and a different fuel supplier. The material was analyzedby us, the fdny, us and fmc analyzed as well its in the letter from fmc, comes back as nickel and aluminum. The grey is the way my phone refelcted the light , its just the bottom of the filter
  22. Thanks and yes it was only a few minutes from where you had come to teach. We are doubling up personal on everything we do for now. And the new wreckers are using the oem tank, our older models used after markets. This truck has 4023 miles, 912 hours total and 592 are idle I cut the upper filter open and also found this
  23. I see insanely high failure rates on engines by me and they like to use any excuse possible to bounce us even with us being a warranty repair facility. Im hoping the iys fine letter will hold up later on for us
