Well I am grateful to have access to FCA...And when I order parts with all the part # already, I am sure the parts personal are also. I had the parts manager @ the GM dealer asked if I was ever a parts guy....Nope...Yeah I supply them with the part # most of the time also.

One of the questions I get on occasion from customers that I would rather not answer is.."Do you think I can do X job myself/is it very hard" Based on the what I now know about the person that put these lug nuts on...The answer is easy... NO

I have never used the clips, why not just put a harness on? I bet the terminals are spread on the old one. I just did a 01 today

Brake Bleeder Extractors
8WA Sman replied to forddieseldoctor's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
No idea if the kits work but in my experience & demographic, if the bleeder is stuck to the point that the normal ticks can't get it loose it gets a caliper. Chances are the caliper has other problems but I don't sell brake fluid flushes as a maintenance item, I do them only if recommended when doing brake repairs. -
Does the CEL come on in bulb check? I am guessing you already looked @ GSB G0000094. According to WSM 418-00 the PCM is on the HS-CAN. Just wondering what the result of PPT QA was? Is there ETC data in any of the other modules? Did you look @ PPT AI in the WSM? Sorry more question then answers... so by default @ this time I do not vote to "Throw" the PCM

I will let someone more experienced offer tips. I am thinking '01 5.4L..depending on the mileage, does it have a lot of timing chain rattle, are the valve guides getting worn, is a valve spring going to break... I know I think too much

All the ones I have seen have been headgaskets. Driver's side leaks into the valley, passenger side leaks out on the exhuast manifold. Personally if the leak is slow I wouldn't mess with it.

'14 6.7L coolant leak, this one didn't run me around like the Eco boost the I put the hose on first. Maybe Ford needs to change their coolant tank supplier? The fitting on the tank has a hairline crack in it. I have found that most times the crack will show clearly with camera, I tried to post a pic but for some reason the uploader does not like me.

I can see it now. "I want that engine in my truck!"

Why learn how to diag & fix the modern vehicle when they can just delete & chip away that evil CEL, if all else fails get a long skinny drill bit. -
Does this fleet have their own tanks? If they do my guess fuel quality is the problem. This could be a fuel supplier issue or maybe they always top up thier tanks. Bad stuff will grow in diesel fuel tanks that are not properly maintained especially if it has bio in it. Could also be fuel additive.

Clean exhaust message won't go away.

I am not sure how much confidence I would put in the Hotline.....They tried to hire me Shouldn't there be a PID to tell if the message is being commanded on? -

Are the parts different for a cab/chassis then a pick up or maybe you already checked their work? What about running the guided routine test on the IPC? -

I have found when take pics with my phone & post them to DTS it works better if I email the pic to me then I can download it & make sure it is rotated properly. Maybe this is not the case with your pic?? Since I do not have the Vin does TSB 15-0057 apply? -
(p0625) generator field terminal circuit low
8WA Sman replied to the_twig_187's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Had an '09 E-Series that had a P0625(Generator Field Terminal Circuit Stuck Low) - If the GENMON circuit is shorted to ground or the A sense is open, the PCM will set this DTC. This DTC can also be set by a faulty PCM or generator.) I went through the PPT twice & was going to order a PCM until a contact that I know in Huntsville,AL saved my bacon. Let's look @ the data that we used So I now know something is not right with this capture, now I have to find out what that is. I de-pin the Genmon(GENLI/CDC15) circuit from the PCM and add my own terminal/circuit & my problem goes away. With more testing I discover that this circuit is being pulled low by CDC25(starter relay to starter solenoid circuit) So how could I have used the IDS to make my life easier?? Let's look If the circuit is open the Pids should look like this And a capture of normal operation I think this is the PCM checking the Gencom Here is a pic of the damaged wires(LF radiator support area close the BJB)BN-GN/CCD25 & VT/CDC15 were causing the code the other wires also got repaired. -
I have a 6.7 ISB in a Ram that had low power and is setting a P2262(Stored) P226C(Active) As of now it seems to run fine 26 PSI of boost. Anybody have any insight on using the Turbo cleaner, does it work, do I need the special hose???

I finally re-opened my doors today, A/C is nice but I like the fresh air better.

I would load test or voltage drop all PCM + and - while wiggling the harness. I would also do this to the injector control and power circuits. So no codes in any modules, they didn't mess up the calibration/flash files by any chance. If you unhook the injectors when it is not triggering does it set fault codes.

6.4 intermittent no-start
8WA Sman replied to Alex Bruene's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
A leaking injector came to mind yesterday, but I forgot to post it. My thinking was what might it be doing in regen that would make the symptom the same(Over-fueling) Lets say it is over-fueling, I wonder if the IDS could be used to narrow down the affected cylinder if a RC test was ran right after it stalled. I would still prefer to use a DSO but the IDS RC may be enough to give some insight. -

6.0L turbo differences
8WA Sman replied to Matt Saunoras's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Matt, I have a customer supplied turbo that is going on a '05 Excursion the rear mounting bolt on the turbo I pulled off is vertical & the one on the customer supplied is horizontal. I also noticed that the thrust washer on the original one is a 270°, reman is the 360°. This is a reman with a billet wheel from how knows where. So I told the customer his turbo is wrong & his rebuilder wants to send the parts & the customer is wondering if I can swap them. I very much dislike customer supplied parts & all my invoices state there is no warranty on parts or labor if the customer supplies the parts but @ the end of the day...... I have not had very many supplied parts in the 12 years I have been in business & this guy has supplied the parts on this job & the time before this & both times they have been wrong. Last time it was ball joints & he ended up buying mine. I think he should buy a turbo from me or pay me bay rental....Trust me there will not be a next time for him supplying the parts. Several reasons but here is just one my business is based on being the lowest cost not price. When I receive the wrong parts it disrupts this. The funny thing on the ball joint job, he had me press in the joints, install the axle shaft seal and he did the work himself, INCLUDING replacing the hub on the wrong side Oh yeah he ended buying the hub from me because the hub he got had course threads(DRW) Anyway enough fun....what do you think?
