The ID of the filter lid was reduced to fit around the OEM filter endcap so that they could be sub-assembled.

Keith, The secondary filter cap was changed. The OEM filter manufacturer made this change knowing it would not cause a fit issue with the current OEM element. WIX who now makes their own non OEM "will fit" replacements apparently did not know about the change. Oops.

In California red fuel is Ag fuel and is non taxable for that reason. It is dyed so that over the road vehicles can be detected if using non taxed fuel.
