  1. Two weeks ago, I had a 6.4L with the shorted HP fuel pump harness. The turbo y-pipe was leaking at the bellows. So I replaced it and did not add any extra labor. Ford kicked it back. So, basically I should have let the truck go and flag for pulling the cab again when it yo-yoed.
  2. Had a warranty claim kicked back today for another tech. He replaced the cab bolts on a 2008 SD while doing a motor job. Ford said cab bolts do not have to be replaced.
  3. How come gas engine repairs do not require diag sheets?
  4. Don't waste money repairing the Tough Book USB ports. Get one of these. We have had ours for a year now with no issues. [img:center]http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/memorysuppliers_2083_24013021[/img]
  5. Ford did the same thing with the 6.0s. We see that worked out well...........
  6. Ford told us we could not flag the glow plug diag here in Texas, because we don't need glow plugs in the middle of summer. So, the next diesel I worked on for a MIL light on with glow plug codes. In my story I put " took wild guess and replaced glow plug module". Next thing you know I'm in the office getting chewed out.
  7. You have a cat convertor coming apart on the passenger side. The PCM sees a rich condition and is leaning the fuel out to compensate. Drop the exhaust down at the manifolds and see if it still misses.
  8. A couple months ago, porters were on the service drive trying to slim jim a mustang (driver's side) because the keys were locked in it. I walked by and being a smart a$$, I grabbed the passenger side door handle and the door opened. Everyone started laughing. They've been tring to unlock the car for 15 min.
  9. The engineer that designed that wiring harness that runs right behind the frame mount filter ought to get the Nobel Piece prize. For piece of crap!!
  10. Our flagger refuses to flag us the 6005PA. Said it sends up a red flag for too many labor ops. Injector prior approval needs to have the Mass Fuel desired readings. Good injectors will be .7 , bad ones will be .1 or .2
  11. Another tech had a F450 with a dump bed. Came for runs hot. Odometer said 7,450 miles. We pulled up the hour heter, it converted over to 58,234 miles. I'm wondering if they only had one oil change since new? The dip stick shows over filled.
  12. I doubt the dealership would care. My brother works construction and has generated at least 20 Super Duty sales with referals to the dealer I work at(all to the same sales person). He tried to buy an Escape and was trading his SHO in using the Cash for Clunkers deal. The dealership totally blew him off. So he went a bought a Honda Accord.
  13. The fuel sender assemblies have to be replaced also, the gas eats up the plastic and the silicone by-pass valve. The 6.4 fuel pumps will shell and contaminate the injectors. You can do an inversion test on the injectors. If they don't "pop" while cranking, the tips are plugged. We see about two a month with the pumps shelled.
  14. Ford rushed the Raptor and decided the 5.4 was good enough. There has never been an SVT vehicle that did not have some sort of engine mod. Even the Conturd SVT had ported and polished intakes.
  15. Being certified now-a-days has no benifits.
  16. Brad. Have you had an evaluation done lately? The technology is changing at a fast pace.
  17. I had over 6 weeks of sick day built up. Then they yanked all the sick days away from us. We have to use a vacation day if we want to get paid. They wrote a song about us. "Mama don't let your babies grow up to be mechanics".
  18. I've had glasses since I was 16. Got Lasik a month ago and could not be happier. When I had the glasses, I had trouble doing close up stuff like soldering wires. Now I have no issues at all 20/15 vision in both eyes.
  19. The people that did the flushs paid for the engines.
  20. We had some guys come through trying to peddle a diesel EGR cleaning machine. The process took 1 hour and totally filled up the whole shop with smoke. It was billowing out the exhaust like crazy. Couple years ago the engine oil flush guys came through. They did two used cars, both Crown Vics, Needless to say, BOTH cars came back on the hook with blown up motors. They locked up on the road test after the flush job.
  21. We have this one service advisor that in the past month has released two diesels to customer for no charge. I ended up not being flagged diag for both of these because the custome declined the repairs. I brought it up to management and they could care less. The same service advisor would blow you off if a 6.0L was to pull up on the drive, You would be having a conversation about a job, he would blow right out of his office to snag the diesel. From now on his is on my $hit list. Exit soap box.......
  22. The grill stays down when the hood is opened. No more scalping!
  23. I had a Ranger a few years ago that came in with a fuel guage concern.(Came from a used car lot) It showed full and there was no fuel pressure. Dropped the tank and found 14 marijuana bricks in the tank. Each one was 4"x4"x14" long. They were vacuum sealed and taped up. The fuzz had my stall surrounded and everything. They hauled the spliff away and never even said thanks. The truck looked like all the door panels were ripped off at some time, I guess the cops did not search it close enough.
