  1. It will be "game over" for Ford when Dodge phases in the Mercedes diesels in their light trucks. DCX is ramping up their Detroit Diesel plant in MI for switch over. FYI The '07 Power Strokes will have a "0" deductable powertrain warranty (5/100)
  2. Jim. I like that theory. They can "fix" that by putting a crossover tube on the rear of the intake plenum.
  3. Big news release tomorrow. Warranty will be 5/60. Not sure if it will be bumper to "bumper".
  4. I've heard 4yrs 50K. Which is what my Lincoln had. Sad to say. But now-a-days, warranty pays more than CP.
  5. The one without the screen has what's called an "edge filter". The narrow passage-way filters the debris in the oil. In mid 1995 the "edge filter" was moved out of the IPR , upstream into the pump.
  6. Check out this replacement air box assembly for the 6.0L diesel. Replacement filters are $15. I do know that this filter is inferior to the stock filter! link
  7. Sorry, the photo link would not work. Jaguar web site
  8. Here's the Jaguar 2.7L V6 diesel. (Image fixed by the diesel fairy /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif )
  9. Quote: Maybe deep down it's a good engine, perhaps as a boat anchor in about 100 feet of water. I don't think the subsea creatures want it either. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif
  10. I don't see it getting worst. 90% of 6.0L problems are high oil pressure system related. There is no high pressure oil system on the 6.4L. ....unless we have high fuel pressure system concerns.
  11. Ford FINALLY announced that the have a new test track for vehicle R+D. I guess they found out that having the customers do the R+D was not working out. Test track
  12. Customers flip out when they see the bodies pulled off. But, there's "more than one way to skin a cat".
  13. I've seen a lot of filters that come apart and the pieces get stuck on that tower. The filter snaps into the cover, then you push gently down while screwing the cover on. Now I always look to make sure there's nothing hung up in the housing.
  14. Your back will thank you for pulling the cabs, ten years from now.
  15. They are also presenting all the Diesel Certified techs with a scale model of an F350 truck. Ford is finally stepping up and realizing that tech DO play a role in their CSI numbers. When the Sick-Os first came out, I got a check for $50.
  16. I think Ford has been KOed the the #3 position. Toyota is #2.
  17. Is there any possibility of Ford using the on board hour meters for warranty repairs? The reason I ask is, we work on a ton of wreckers that sit all day idling under the overpasses. Then they come in with the egr system coked up and have it covered under warranty. Here in Houston we do have a law that prohibits idling for more than 5 min. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif
  18. The dealership I'm at, we used to get Ford test vehicles. About a year before the 4.2L V6 was available in the vans, we got one in and Ford wanted to pull the engine out. They had us pull the body off for the repairs. It would be nice to have a flip forward front end to do repairs a-la Chevy Kodiak.
  19. A fellow tech did injectors in one a while back. He had to remove the motor mounts and drop the engine down to gain access to the injectors. Sorry, no pics.
  20. Screw it.........let's go ride. I assume you ride a KTM?
  21. Great news. Gives me an extra 3 months to "get out of the business"!
  22. Knowing the automotive business, you are probably right.
  23. Yes, I love the wireless network also. No more taking the WDS back to the docking station and waiting. Our flunkie lube guy dropped one of our IDS' and broke the connector housing. The sad part is, he did not tell anyone he dropped it. The next person that used it would have had to "pay" for the repairs.
