Jim what's wrong with this situation???? I know that you tell it like it is, but have the nerve to comeout like this... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif Come on I know better and so does everybody else so don't be so shy, tell us you would like to take the owner of the truck out back. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif So said by Jim: I explain insurance and compensation regs to them and gently remind them that talking to me in the shop costs over $100/hr.... talking to me at the service desk is free.... I treat them the way I would want to be treated.... all I ask in return is that they treat me the way they would want to be treated. So said by Jim....

Less painfull but I blame the Parts Manager and anybody else up the ladder for not having the basic tools to run the dept. Me I'm the exception, yes I'm full of it but I can be, being that I try to learn as much as I can about parts and service to be a well rounded parts guy. I actually enjoy helping out, and especially enjoy knowing more than the guy's I work with. Nothing better than the Parts Manager not knowing what a truck needs, big pat on the back and make my day. Hurray for me finally. Didn't realize that until I left the dealer and have the guy's I worked with calling me for info on a lot of things.

It seems like most of us/you guys would rather blow thru these recalls quickly and be done with it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif Wouldn't it be the perfect time to try to keep the customer at the shop and get some additionals to help bottomline and your paycheck? Don't get me wrong I know that a lot of us are buried 2-3 weeks in advance but maybe you could get some quick things out of it...Belts, tensioners, hoses...and on and on I'm not saying overhaul the truck just get a few add-ons while they are there, you don't know, they might come back again for more. Brakes/shocks and I could list others but don't feel like being Jim right know.

Dwayne I can appreciate the pic, but I count 3 cab offs at that time. How many more were there that you didn't show us? By the way nice looking shop. And how do you explain the other pics on the web of you in the local pub? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif

If it's of any conseqence, My oil sales rep came in today, same one that I had at Motor City Ford. He checked on the oil level in the tank and seen that my old shop had exactly "1" truck in the shop and very few in the lot. It's not because I left but it shows that things are bad everywhere, more so here in metro Detroit. I feel bad for the guy's I worked with because they get payed a small salary plus commission. No trucks no sales no pay check. I must be a witch because I always seem to get out of a shop just before the shit hits the fan and goes south. On the brighter note my service shop across the yard is backed up 2-3 weeks on some jobs. We are getting ready to open a new service only shop about 35 minutes west of us and are in the process of buying a new fuel injection shop in Grand Rapids. Man oh Man I'm starting to feel more and more like Jim... Sorry so long with my post...

Keith definitley send me some pics I know what you want but need to see it to help. Remember I'm not on the front line anymore. I may have what you need here at the new shop but have to see it, or send me a old one. We did use the kit I mentioned but never heard from the techs one way or the other. I figured that was the fix, obviously I was wrong(not to often but yes I was in this case). But then again maybe my techs may have not have cared if it fixed the problem or just changed out the connector and down the road she goes?? Keith or anybody else here send me something so I can help.

Cummins 5.9 question
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to eastendpowerstroke's topic in General Diesel Engines
So it still has the shakes? I would have figured you would have torn it down to the ground and built it up from there, (the right way). Had another thought while sitting in my office(if you know what I mean). Mic out the damper these things have a rubber filled damper and have been known for getting funky. Do a 12-3-6-9 measure I believe the spec is within .002 of one another. -

Cummins 5.9 question
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to eastendpowerstroke's topic in General Diesel Engines
Just another thought... Is it backed by a a/t or m/t??? The Allison's had a issue with cracked and or broken flexplate adapters. It could be someplace to look, they would shake the bejesus out of the truck. But would not alter the performance until it got so bad that it dropped pieces all over the road. -
I think I'm high again, hang out I have to check my notes, I'll make sure and get back with you. Okay I checked and the one we were using was the LCF kit for the icp shield part # 6E7Z9H529AA I don't know if this what you guy's want but is what we use and works. Thanks Keith!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/boink3.gif

Oops, sorry guy's I new I forgot something. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif The part# is 5C3Z12224A it's the ICP connector and comes with the shield.

P0128 & P0196
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
So in other words put the truck out back and wait until they figure it out? Or is the vehicle driveable? -
Yes we have no BANANAS but we have cmp's coming out the wazoo. Do me a favor and have your parts dept check for about 500 of the sensors and see who has them. If the pdc's are showing less than a 100 order them and get the other dealers to belly up and pay cost + 10-15-20 or what ever you get to other dealers. But make sure you have them. My suggestion is 20-25 over cost for the forsight and lack of theirs. I think thats a fair margin being the fact that they didn't see it coming. And it will happen. Sorry I'm just a bitch like that.

6.0 E-van compression test
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to BillWiebe's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
It seems to me that even lifting a cube body that was attached would be a pain in the(one Keith's bad words). The body companys don't attach the bodies permanent but have a lot of silicone sealing them. As for a ambulance I don't know but has to be even worse I would emagine. Seems to be more weight than would be viable. Could be wrong but.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif
