ford already has developed a tool to extract the spark plug tips.. When it happened to me I called the hotline and fse sent me the tool to try and it worked. but are dealer had to send the tool back to the fse.

I had 3 f150's and 4 expeditions with 4.6l and 5.4l 2v and 3v engines with codes p0172,p0175. Thank god they didn't all come at they same time. Any way after pulling my hair out I figured poor quality. After arguing with the service manager and explaining that it is a cp job. I took off the intake manifold and all the spark plugs, soaked intake valves with ford pm2 carb cleaner and scurbbed carbon build up on valves and intake ports. that finally cured my problems with those codes.
