  1. Keith, I emailed you acopy; maybe you will have better luck posting the pdf than I do cheers !!
  2. Aaron, i emailed a copy to you; hope it went through
  3. We have a wall between the two shops and the car shop guys never come back unless they are cutting through to get to their cars at quitting time
  4. I agree, the little extra time to remove these is well worth the reward, besides, we have no hoists in the truck shop and they won't let me thread eyelets into the roof panels for the overhead crane !
  5. No, this is a local truck, and it was the dealers decision. They dont want to ruffle feathers at Ford, we are in a large audit right now
  6. I had one last week with the exact same symptoms. Was told to release it, it started better than it did before, and customer was in a panic.
  7. Kudos for your effort and for trying out the change. I was extremely close to making the jump to the North earlier this year. The only thing that stopped me was not seeing my 15 month old son for 2 weeks at a time. Why did you decide to come back, if you don't mind me asking ? If you are ever down Kingston way, let me know, I am always up for a cold one or four, especially after working the 4- 12 shift. Have a safe trip !
  8. undo the motor mount and fan shroud and cac hoses, bottle jack under the front of engine and lower.
  9. I bought a Dell D610 off ebay still with Dell warranty for 400.00 and it works great and have never had any problems with it.
  10. i bought my own ids on ebay, sevice manager wouldn't let me order one throuhg our dealer. there is a company called AE Tools that also sells them, and all other diagnostic tools and they are reasonably priced.
  11. just finished doing one on the side of hwy 401 for the same reason. died while driving and no communication; pcm fuse blown. have done a couple this week for the heater element being the culprit. good luck
  12. most of it, although he does the odd service himself, he has his own shop he keeps the trucks in.
  13. I have a customer with an 00 cube van with 1,400,000 km on it; an 02 with 1,100,000; an 04 with 780,000 km and an 05 cube with 690,000 km on it. No major bills, but an awesome maitenance routine he follows.
  14. one of my favorites is climbing under a Waste Management garbage truck to change a maxi, only to have little helpers drop down from the box to help you do the job!
  15. Thanks Keith, I will try this when I get back to work. I am currently off for 3-6 weeks with a busted ankle !
  16. We received this tool package as part of the pilot program. I have only used it a couple of times; it worked ok, although I still prefer to monitor pids during the road test, and looking at recordings.
  17. I wish we would slow down ! We still have PDI's from early December that havn't been looked at ! The truck shop is logged jammed with no room, and I have been stealing bays in the car shop, 1 for my 6.4 engine job, and 1-2 bays for for quick in and outs. It really helps when the 2 primma donnas have never worked on anything electronic before starting here, but know everything about everything!!
  18. Does anyone know of a way to allow the pto to operate with the vehicle in neutral? The truck has a rolloff deck on it and he needs the truck to creep ahead as the platform comes off the truck.
  19. not yet, at 4 oclock on a friday i felt my time would be best spent in the line up at the local beer store!! I suspect an injector issue ( go figure ), but i will look deeper on monday unless I find a new job in the meantime! i will keep you posted.
  20. Had a truck come in for an exhaust leak and smell in the cab. Got the leak fixed and roadtested the truck. While accelerating uphill rpm's pegged the guage, and smoke filled the air around me before the truck came to a stop along the road. Thank god for roadside assistance! Towed back to shop and found that the cac cooler is actually a holding tank for roughly 10 litres of a fuel and oil mixture; must be a new feature for '08. All this at 4 on a friday afternoon, what a way to start the weekend! At least the customer only had for less than 24 hours, probably not used to the truck yet so maybe he won't miss it for a few days until its fixed. I bet he's wishing he bought the white one instead of the black one ! Oh, well , i guess this is called job security
  21. Most of my work is 100% warranty. I am the only person with diesel certification; or any Ford training. Not bad for the only truck shop in Eastern Ontario. The other guys seem to know everything, and won't even do basic electrical, which they could really use ! They do all the retail work, and whatever warranty that they do, gets submitted under my number. It makes for a fun place to work when they will tell you how good they are, and that Hotline doesn't know what they are talking about. But then again, this comes from the guy that so far has about 70 + hours into diagnosing a loose trigger wheel, and has just started to reassemble the short block that "isn't going to fix the problem" ! Lucky for me my wife is due any day and I'm taking 2 weeks off! I just have to decide whether or not I will go back, and for how long. I hope the jackets get here soon!! Sorry, I just had to vent .
  22. Thanks for the replies. I tried the IC3 from our WDS but for the LCF I need theIC4, as it won't recognize the IC3. thanks again, I will be calling rotunda on Wednesday morning. Merry Christmas to all ! I need the break, I am 11 Trucks behind from being caught up ! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif
  23. does anybody know the part #'s to order the cables for the IDS to do LCF and F650/750 ? I have been having trouble finding the numbers and am getting no place with Rotunda. thanks
  24. what i found out after my long time ago memory came back, was that when it would not start after a hot soak, i dumped cold water onto the injection pump, and voila, fired right up. Replaced the pump and problem gone.
  25. 93 7.3 idi when hot is very hard to start ( long crank ), or will not start. Many moons ago, i vaguely remember an issue with vapour lock in the fuel system, but its been a long time since. Anyone recall this or any other issues with this concern? Thanks in advance
