tools for tsb 08-11-3 ?
kevin phillips replied to kevin phillips's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
pretty close,it's been by the same family since the beginning.we still have the old twin post underground lifts with rear and front on seperate controls in most of the bays.it's had a few facelifts but it was the first ford dealer in nc.they don't buy any tools much but we improvise if we need to.i've been working on talking them into some new stuff but it's hard to do when for so long they have had so little far as extra stuff. -

kevin phillips replied to kevin phillips's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
No,i haven't got a test icp.I did unplug it and it still wouldn't crank in default mode.Cranking speed and vpwr is good.Vehicle dosen't have excessive blowby when it's running. -

all i can find is the one block off tool and not the one the icp goes in.i found the box ,its just missing, but it still wouldn't start with either side blocked so i guess that leads towards the ipr or pump the best i can figure so far.going back to work tommorow so i will update. -

fuel is ok and no signs of oil.ipr% hot idle is 11.33% tried blocking each head's oil line one at a time, still a no start.with the pass side blocked it still showed .54 volts and tried the drivers side but icp was then unhooked so i couldn't tell the pressure but it still was a no start.going to pull the ipr next -
i have a 95 f-250 that is giving me a fit.The glow plugs and relay check out ok.The vehicle will start if with a shot of either and runs fine.It however will not start by normal means. The problem is there hot and cold.Icp voltage goes to .54 volts while cranking with a icp breakout harness installed.the resovoir is full.Could this be a internal leak or a weak pump or am i going in the wrong direction.ipr% goes up to 50% while it's cranking.Any ideas would be helpful.fuel pressure is ok cranking. Thanks for any help.

frozen wheels on hubs
kevin phillips replied to Brad Clayton's topic in Driveline: Transmissions, Clutches and Axles
i've got a large snap on dead blow ,one of the biggest they offer, 16lb i think, and a few swings usually brings them off after some pb blaster on the rims where they meet the hub -
just put a radiator in one today that makes four i have done, all on the lefthand side but far as why i have no idea other than cheap crimps, design error

Stupid "chip" tricks...
kevin phillips replied to Jim Warman's topic in Upgrade and Aftermarket Equipment
You tell um jim.I had some real winners this week it's merlefest week in wilkesboro{annual bluegrass festival}at the local community college and it brings some nice one's my way.You would have been proud jim. I even fixed a ontario traveler. It's a small world i guess. All i can say is somewhere they ignore the chips and keep right on going with the diag.I had one this week blowing the hot side upper cac hose over and over again i found out why when i drove it.It felt like it had 4 times the normal boost. -
i guess dealers in the act of lowering their warranty repairs might opt out.we have several that send work somewhere else around here for fear of the high numbers.i try not to practice that.

question about pds
kevin phillips replied to kevin phillips's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
keith, it might be worth a try.it was version forty eight i think it had it wouldn't do 2006 6.0 liters and foward. If i had a 06 or newer 6.0 i kept a 2005 stored and would log in under it and it worked fine.i think i could get it back up and running with a older model disc right before they went to the version 50 i think but i'm unsure. -
We have two vcm's one good, one not on update. One was for pds use and the other for ids use.The pocket pc battery went completly dead and lost the pds program and it was up to date at the time .Now when i try to reload it says the vcm is out of date and it is, but the dealer just updated one of them so now one of our units is down.Question Could pds be downloaded back to the pocket pc then connected to the good ids vcm to update the code then be transfered back to the out of date vcm and work. Thanks for any ideas,i really don't want to buy the update myself but i may have to since the dealer says they allready paid for update on one and it should work.Hopefully someone has tried this.

multiple turbo failures
kevin phillips replied to jaysonfordtech's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
good luck on your long block,i had a runaway a while back and the pistons melted down and it took almost a month for ford to send out a motor after the inspectors came and diddn't have a clue about it -
Yea, i spent alot of time hunting for interference when it was a base engine concern .it's fixed now
