  1. I checked out a few sites that have 6.4 forums now. TDS is the latest to add one and the crap these guys are saying is unreal. There is even bickering about who knows what and somebody dug up the Ford owns Cummins line! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif Someone even suggested that Ford considered the CAT C7 for the Superduty. I cant wait for Ford to finally unveil this thing and stop the rumors and guessing. I did see that Ford is supposed to show the 2008 at the Texas state fair in Sept??? Anyone confirm this???
  2. I think a lot more of the Hotline these days but in this case I think you are measurements reflect more than restriction. What does the cooler do? It cools the compressed air and cooling condenses the air causing a slight pressure drop. I would expect there to be a pressure difference. I have just never heard of anybody doing this. You were actually able to thread the thin CAC tube?
  3. Nada here too. I have never seen one of those crack but I have read about it. Is there a difference in the tubes between the PSD and the international engine?
  4. The 53 mile commute is a double bladed sword. It could be good that you have time to decompress before you get home like Jim was eluding to. Depending on the type of driving the majority of the 53 miles are the ride could be enough to get you wound up too not to mention the cost of fuel these days. Personally I hate commuting. Good luck with your decision what ever it is.
  5. I got into a conversation with a Power Stroke Parts Peddler and the subject turned to the weight of these engines. Okay, I draw a blank and can't find it documented so does any body know what the 7.3, 6.0 and the 4.5 weigh???
  6. Why doesn't somebody just sell him an FQR long block?
  7. So if I read this thread right a pattern should be visible but for the most part contained in the bowl? So Doc, how did this truck run and what was wrong with it? The truck w/ the pistons I mean.
  8. I think thats all it needed to state. Leave the model years out of it and there really should be no question.
  9. I was told in training that the current 4.5 would never be put into a light truck because of weight and emissions. Isn't there some new high tech Ford V-6 diesel being built in England? For Range Rovers or something like that?
  10. Jim dont you know it's not politically correct to speak your mind, say what you are thinking or be honest about the reality of the situation we have all been in? You can hear it in the voices of the HotLine engineers and the Reps at the dealers but I am sure Ford puts the smack down on anyone of their employees being openly truthful. I no longer use the Ford message boards. Personally I think Ford should be reading this site and others. They really need to start listening to what techs and customers are saying. I mean REALLY listen!!! Look at this Spin to win contest. How long did it take them to reward the diesel guys for thier pain? What are they doing for their 6.0L customers that got screwed?
  11. What trans is that? 5R55S?Must be in the "smaller" trucks /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
  12. You mean the blue Teflon grease? yes but that is for sticking splines which give you a thump on take off from a stop. I f I remember correctly I think we put a shaft in it. Personally I think it's the hanger bearings
  13. The only difference I see between the red truck and that picture is the lights in the front. I like the red trucks lights better. The black dually just looks really odd with those lights configured that way. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif
  14. I would say you just ran across one that bound-up for whatever reason. I just pulled off the plastic top of a used filter and those tabs are not very long at all. They almost look like they are to keep the filter element from spinning inside the housing. I would just replace the stand pipe, move on and chalk it up as "one of those things."
  15. You mean this? Quote: "The Heat Is On" Spin to Win Incentive This incentive will provide qualifying technicians with an opportunity to spin for cash and prizes for each diesel warranty claim paid that includes one or more of the 34 qualifying diesel labor operations. The spin values will range from $5.00 to $100.00. The award amounts can be redeemed for cash via the Genuine Service MasterCard. I encourage you to use these spins to generate some excitement in your shop meetings. Details of how the spin to win program will work are contained in the Attachment. Monthly Grand Prize Drawing There will be an additional monthly Grand Prize drawing, four in total, from the group of technicians that have redeemed at least one spin for that month. Prizes for the monthly drawings will be significant. Details of the monthly Grand Prize drawings will be released shortly. PTS Power Stroke Diesel Die Cast Trucks To kick off this exciting new incentive, each diesel certified technician, as of June 1, 2006, in Specialty 51 or 52 will receive a limited edition PTS F-350, Power Stroke Diesel, die cast model truck. These models were produced specifically for PTS in a limited number to recognize the extra effort and professionalism that Ford diesel certified technicians demonstrate.
  16. Quote: Can you run two HD's in the same computer using different operating systems? Yes, you can do that. You can even run two operating systems on one hard drive if you partition the drive.
  17. How can they cut times on the ASSUMPTION that every dealer and technician has the facilities capable of doing cab off repairs? Technically they would have to make labor ops for both methods. Am I wrong here?
  18. Looks like you pretty much covered the bases here. The only thing you haven't done is plug in a test module. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
  19. Yeah, I agree with that point too. I remember when the R&I time for the 6.0L was a big topic and some guy performed the operation at the dealer he worked at I think. Then He got snotty in an interview stating that "we" need to pay attention to all of the other things we do during the day that wastes time. EAT ME! It still takes me a day to get one OUT no less swapping parts and installing it! Hey, I know that there are some guys that seem to be really quick, no offense inteneded when I say many of them are hacks. If I say a 6.0L swap done in 11/12 hours I would look it over REAL good.
  20. I am usually working during the day so I miss all of these broadcasts when they are live. I occasionally catch a Tech Time episode rerun but they are almost unwatchable.
  21. Are you saying that this transfer case is SHIFTING out of 4X4 on its own? The only clunking concerns I have run across were malfunctioning auto hubs usually caused by vacuum leaks at the axle seals... or a destroyed hub.
  22. Wow! In looking at the poll results it looks like a lot of dealers are screwing themselves. I hope that the diesel techs aren't getting screwed too! If you do diesel work and are certified and good at it you are worth more. This goes for truck techs in general too.
  23. I am wondering if you guys are replacing more turbos now on 2003 trucks after performing the recall. I used to do maybe 1 or 2 a month but now its 1 or 2 a week!!! It doesent help that the turbos are on backorder either. MAybe that's my answer?
  24. Have you replaced the connector hose itself? Many of these hoses at the turbo are perforated and leak. I think it's a defect in manufacturing. I have seen them tear as well. If this is happening then nothing you do with the clamps is going to help.
