This post has made me think about something we may find useful and efficient. a labor op Forum for things such as this engine R&I cab on vs cab off, head gaskets cab on vs cab off etc. A basic listing of proven winners that we can use for quick reference and add or subtract as required? What do you think Keith?

Torque Wrench Calibration
eastendpowerstroke replied to slim's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
My tool man would take them over to the local AIRPORT that has been known world wide for many many years for overhauling aircraft engines, they had some sort of machine to verify torque wrenches. He would only charge you if it needed to be adjusted. Last I knew they did have the machine anymore because the FAA said they weren't allowed to test and calibrate there own torque wrenches "in house" anymore. -
Jeff you suck, I was composing a script for that but had to help the kids with home work and get them to bed so I didn't get to far. Oh well I missed the boat

I was in my parts room rummaging for a 6.0L fuel pressure regulator I knew we had but the third string parts man I was dealing with could find and I found a little box with what looked like a 7.3L fuel pick screen?? I'll have to check the number tomorrow. -
[quote name="Mekanik I try to avoid negative people. I have found that negative people enjoy trying to make others as miserable as they are. My shop is the best place I've ever worked, most around are cut throat hell holes that suck to work at. But even here there is two guys in the shop that live to see others in distress/suffering, so today my service manager is taking a couple of days off so we specifically didn't write it on the calender and also planed it so he would be "called into the DP's office" late this afternoon. So he comes back and throws some of his stuff from his desk into a box and storms through the shop grumbling F* this place F* him I can't believe this shit head would fire me ..blah blah..... The shops two harvester's of sorrow are so excited they were delirious and they won't need Viagra for weeks. Most of the guys are in on the scam and we all fueled the fire to a fever pitch and it will continue till Monday when the SM comes back to work

Ken Palmer or JR.So.....sumtinorother.. gotta go look a the certificate. these guy are splitting there time between training centers Mass,Yonkers,Columbia Green, makes it hard for guy to get into class for stuff. I've Never had Ken Palmer as an instructor But I understand that he can be very thorough....PAINFULLY thorough, I did have JR for Hybrid Escape/Mariner new model a few weeks ago in Yonkers. Seemed like an OK guy. I only really know one Instructor anymore John Clark in NJ. And he is the only instructor in the country that is still a FMC employee all the others are contractors.

Now that Cat isn't in the on HWY truck engine biz anymore and there is NO Navistar engine currently available for the 650-750 blue diamond trucks that leaves only Cummins. The way I see it,thats a pretty short list of engine options Even if we get a new Navistar engine option it still makes only TWO engines. It should be real easy for Ford to get at least basic diag info to determine if it's a problem for the engine maker or an OEM problem and pass it on to the guys that gota fix em' Quote: Wabco, Bendix Brakes, Ford has a certification for that, both Web based course's and "classroom" course's for Commercial brakes, Air Brakes - Theory and Operation (58S01W0), Service and Diagnosis (58S02W0) and Hydraulic Brakes - Theory and Operations (58S03W0) .But the classroom part (58S01T0,58S02TO) doesn't exist! What good is offering certification for something and never holding class???? Quote: Dana/Spicer Manual trans and axle service info is covered in the WSM and is straight forward, however most internal manual trans parts weren't available from Ford last I looked. I had a Spicer 7 spd that needed syncros was told to get a reman unit? OK! Quote: Allison UUUGGG!!! Dealing with Atlantic D.D.A is like jamming a sharp stick into your eye

Super duty step bench???
eastendpowerstroke replied to fjubain's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
Aaron I have a similar issue also being "husky". I own a tire step too but find standing on it inconvenient for most jobs,I feel most times it's to high and I'm ducking around the hood or I can't reach where I need from the side. -
Quote: I disagree with this statement. As is your right to do. I'm a big boy my feelings won't be hurt. Quote: I'm not sure what the real problem is- political, where the tech isn't paid properly for his diag, being too busy/shorthanded in the service dept and needing to "get it done", laziness on the tech's part, lack of experience, or unwillingness to be thorough in doing the repair. Laziness or unwillingness is NOT an issue, I will gladly admit to "inexperience" as I was thrown into MD trucks by my dealership with no formal MD/HD truck training or equipment. Any thing I've learned about MD trucks have been on my own. Quote: WSS don't walk out because of a stone hit, and if the rust is bad enough to push the sensor out, the barrel clip has seen better days, I didn't realize the clips were such a problem. I have spent the time and effort many times diagnosing a ABS light and after following the Diag for the wss code and checking/adjusting the wheel bearings per the WSM and finding nothing wrong, other than the sensor gap incorrect I'll be sure to check the clips more closely in the future. FWIW I have tried to take the training offered by Ford for Commercial brakes, but the required classroom training hasn't ever been offered in any Ford training center anywhere I know of. I've had a course request in for it since June 20,2005. Maybe Ford could Hire you to teach it. other than The New Model course's for the LCF and F650-750 Ford doesn't offer much as far as training for MD trucks.
