  1. It is likely a networking issue... Replace the fuse and disconnect the module. If the truck starts with it disconnected and does not with it reconnected replace the TBC module. I ran into this 2X before. Haven't seen this in a looooong time though.
  2. Yes Todd, that will work... if you can get the plugs to reach.
  3. Puppies don't sleep, they just idle for a while then throttle right back up!
  4. Excellent! I would bet the fitting was your problem. but there have been times where I found multiple issues and wasn't sure what exactly fixed the concern.
  5. Well that's all fine and dandy BUT customers do not like the fact that their trucks start making noises like this after owning the truck for some time and thousands of miles. Most customers make the argument that: "My truck didn't make that noise when it was new!" Ford calls this a normal vehicle characteristic which I don't always agree with. The condition and the causal part may not affect vehicle operation but customers of these expensive trucks find the noise quite objectionable.
  6. I have been anticipating this and waiting patiently, but not until I can get some kind of confirmation that a new diesel is definite.
  7. right... but an IPR seal blown out means that the screen has been pushed off of the IRP with the screen broken or in-tact. I have seen crap stuck in the IPR allowed by the screen being pushed into the pump bore. Regardless of that, the screen keeps the o-ring and the backer seal in place. The IPR does not necessarily need to be replaced as a seal and screen kit is available (3C3Z-9H529-A) just be sure there are no seals or the screen left in the HPOP. Clean the IPR out with Brakleen and inspect with a good light (and good eyes) if there is debris caught you can see it.
  8. NO SHIT! I have lost work over the years because of parts pricing. Especially on service items like this for crying out loud. We have a Wal-Mart 1/4 mile from our store, we should probably sent one of our parts guys there once a week.
  9. I have often wondered that myself. The price on those external steel can filters is just stupid. The difference is that the internal filter is thicker than the pick-up screen and probably requires a different oil pan. I still wanna know why they just never used a spin on filter on the side of the trans.
  10. I know, I know. Hey, You and I are both ex-smokers. This is for a reason I assume because I used to like to smoke... all kinds of things. Now I don't because I want to be "here" as long as possible. There were times I enjoyed a good smoke... now I look forward to enjoying more good times. Like that grandson of yours. You may not think of that spackle dust as dangerous but it CANT be healthy. My grandfather used to make hand-cut wooden jigsaw puzzles between 1920 to about 1970. Never smoked a day in his life. He died from lung cancer. Was it all of that really fine dust he had breathed in all of those years? Maybe, maybe not, but it probably wasn't good to do. Wear a mask Jim. And for the interested, the puzzles my grandfather and father used to make were packaged under the name "U-Nit Puzzles." He is in a few history books and if any of you ever come across any of these puzzles at flea markets, garage sales and so forth, please think of me? I would love to recover some more of them if I can find them for a bargain.
  11. GASP! Jim, you are the biggest proponent of workplace safety I know and here you admit to sanding drywall without a mask... handling fiberglass without gloves and long sleeves?
  12. Do what I did, have my brother-in-law do it - er help me. I agree with ya, corner moldings are not particularly attractive. Suck it up Jim, how much taping could it possibly be? It's only the kitchen right? Not the whole house.
  13. I am neither the rule nor the exception. I have not seen one in my shop to date.
  14. I don't think programming is an issue as all Ford FICM's do not come programmed - It used to be hit or miss at one time but I cannot remember the last time I replaced a complete FICM that wasn't blank. I think if the part is covered, that is sufficient for most except maybe the DIY'er. Half-shells don't require programming. Don't know if this has been asked, does International sell FICM Half-shells?
  15. If this is your plan then why not go there/call there and ask yourself... you will need to develop a relationship to some degree anyway.
  16. I wouldn't sell it short. When ours was new... MANY MANY years ago, I moved an F700 dump loaded with stone. 20 years later I don't think ours could do that anymore however. The motor just doesn't sound right now, BUT it still works.
  17. I hope this comes as no surprise to you. You can get most things from International... and cheaper. Once it leaves an International distributor or whatever, everyone involved with ford parts distribution has to get a piece of the pie.
  18. If that is true then they would probably pay for themselves in no time on fuel savings and service intervals.
  19. I will also add that Streamlight backs their lights with an unconditional warranty. The first one I had (which I found) I left leaning up against a turbo on a van and then road tested it. I later found the light, with the button and lens melted. I received an new one. That very same light later just stopped working. I got another new light. And good find Dustin!!!
  20. I need a new flashlight too. I own a Streamlight that is LED and battery powered. I mean 3 c-cells. Its okay with new batteries. The guys I work with have the rechargeables ones and they are bright as hell. I borrow one on occasion and I wish I had one. Money for me right now is a problem so I suffer. My middle-aged eyes need good light now so I too am untested in opinions.
  21. I have no doubt you will rewire them in a safe and correct manner, the question is will these guys be running the batteries down with whatever they are running with the engine off?
