A quick failure like that suggests a seal failure or an installation mishap. Like most diesel guys I would want to know what the heck happened as I am sue you do. Make sure the bolts were all tightened and so forth, etc. etc.... Shit happens.

I think I have had two of these... early on after the 11B23 calibration update along with several thermostats but thankfully things have bee quiet with these lately. I would guess that any cooling system problem could contribute to this and I do recall being advised to inspect the pump too. Not sure why if the coolant temps were in a normal and expected range. I still wonder if an aggressive chemical flush wouldn't clean up the cooler...

Interesting FICM
Keith Browning replied to Bruce Amacker's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
It is common for a FICM to show FICM_MPWR above 47 volts KOEO even with the glow plugs energized but drop while cranking the engine. I have seen weird things using my NOID light but never gave it a second thought as like in this case, a new FICM fixes it. I suppose it depends one the "degree" or location of the failure inside the FICM. I agree with you that for spool valves to make noise the valves must be moving in both directions. I had a truck in Friday that made noise when turning the key on but simply would not fire when cranking. In that one FICM_MPWR immediately dropped below 30 volts as soon as I started cranking. I normally don't pull out my NOID stick for a no starts rather more for individual injector circuit failures or dead misfires where normal diagnostics lead to a bad injector as a final test to ensure the FICM is actuating both sides of the spool valve. I have also watched FICM_MPWR voltage vary from 48 to the low 30's and back repeatedly while sitting in the shop idling long after warm up and no glow plug cycling... and still run half decently... and others crank with only marginally low FICM_MPWR and not fire. I have also seen FICM's lose the ability to maintain FICM_MPWR after the engine and the module heat up. Sorry I am throwing a lot of stuff up here but these things come to mind. -
Since I haven't had to perform this yet I don't know how to answer this question posed to me so I defer to you guys. I did't have a truck around to plug into and see... I am assuming IDS offers a manual regen function for the 6.7L, is it just like performing this on the the 6.4L?

Dwayne, I don't know what the rules are up there in Canada but here in the US we have 30 days from the date the repair order is opened to submit the claim.

6.7L Injector Sockets

You gents can always go to snapon.com and get them. -
To me it seems that the REASON you would be backflagged is key. If you were not supposed to be paid time in the first place then it wasn't yours to begin with. If a claim bounces because somebody else screwed something up...

How to check low pressure fuel pressure

If you look around the rest of the DTS website you will find some good documentation of fuel tank problems and the affects on fuel systems. -
How to check low pressure fuel pressure
Keith Browning replied to Fordracer's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Looks like a steel aft-axle tank. I see the crap on the bottom of the tank that looks like granulated rust... run your hand along the top surface of the tank through the sender opening. Tell me what you feel. If it is anything but smooth, use a mirror to inspect. When these tanks rust it is ALWAYS the upper surfaces of the inside of the tank. -
Oil leak at CMP sensor pins??
Keith Browning replied to lmorris's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Meant to add my thoughts to this the other day... In looking at the construction of this sensor and the fact that it is not exposed to pressurized oil I want to say that it is highly unlikely that this sensor would or could leak from the terminals without serious damage to it. Much less a second sensor. Like Alex I have only seen the outer o-rings leak but I will add that I have never seen that cause oil to even touch the connector or harness. Was UV dye used to trace the leak? -

Installing Plows
Keith Browning replied to Keith Browning's topic in Upgrade and Aftermarket Equipment
It's a Fisher plow... and I am charging sales straight time to deal with this but I need to be sure I am "in-line" with what is common for such a project. -
Just curious if anyone has experience with this and what kind of labor it is worth? I am actually switching a plow from a GMC to a new F450 using a brand new mount kit. The plow itself is used. I had to remove the electronics for the plow and lights along with the harnesses. Fortunately I was also supplied with new plow light harness kits.

Intermittant low power p0106, p0107, p2262
Keith Browning replied to amailloux's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Interesting idea but I would think that a broken DOC would cause aftertreatment errors and EGT sensor readings to be low and set corresponding codes. In looking at the DTC's P0107 might be the one to begin diagnosing. A data recorder will greatly assist yuou in diagnosing this intermittent concern. Look at VOLTAGES... not just pressure PIDs. -
How to check low pressure fuel pressure
Keith Browning replied to Fordracer's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Pinpoint Test MA3 : CHECK THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE AFTER THE SECONDARY FUEL FILTER NOTE: The FP will run for 30 seconds then shut off at ignition ON, engine OFF. [*]Ignition OFF. [*]Connect the low pressure fuel supply line to the secondary fuel filter. [*]Disconnect the injection pump fuel supply tube from the fuel filter to fuel injection pump supply tube quick connect coupling. [*]Install the Fuel Line Adapter 310-159 or equivalent and the DSL ENG Pressure Test Kit 014-00761 or equivalent to the fuel filter to fuel injection pump supply tube quick connect coupling at the fuel injection pump supply tube. For vehicles that start, [*]Road test the vehicle while accelerating under load while monitoring the fuel pressure gauge. For vehicles that do not start, [*]Ignition ON, engine OFF. [*]Access the PCM and control the FPL_CMD (MODE) PID. [*]Command the FP ON. Is the low pressure fuel system pressure greater than 379 kPa (55 psi)? -
I never touched it.

No, it's a compression leak to start with - typical breached cylinder head gasket failure with stuck turbo. Number one, it's not a coolant leak. Number two, I would be concerned with introducing particles to the cooling system that will eventually settle in the oil cooler exacerbating THAT possible concern.
-
Imagine, putting Stop-Leak in a 6.0L Power Stroke to fix a head gasket leak.

You have my address Mr. Amacker! Please include me in your sharing sir?

DONE! I just finished up with my current Cummins courses for mid-range engines. Mind numbing to say the least. Now to pass the binder of disks off to my buddy Dan. I can now attend school at Cummins

This is what I was looking for. I read something that simply mentioned "signal reflections" and the above statement clarifies it pretty well! Thanks Bruce!
