Here is a sample of some of the thinking out there by an independent who decided to send me his thoughts in my in-box this morning. Note the insult and then the contradiction. Message: was quite thrilled with your site until I found out I was not eligible to use any resources because I am not a FORD tech, even though I know more than the local dealers. How are us REAL mechanics supposed to fix this crap without decent information? XXXX XXX, Shop Foreman, Wilcox Automotive So, we are not REAL mechanics and he is seeking information and assistance from us? This type of bullshit is one of the reasons why this forum is set up they way it is. As you all know, I have welcomed a few independent and fleet technicians into our community. I believe we can work together. I believe respect and professionalism does count for a lot. It's not about how many certifications you have or how long you have been turning wrenches. Show me you are an adult, show me you are a professional, show me a little respect and I will treat you the same.

8 courses down... 41 to go. Uhhhg. These SUCK. There is a lot of really great information in them but the presentation kills you. I also find some of the test questions a bit obscure. When I am finished I will be granted the privilege of going to an actual training class. -
Skinless means skinless. They are cooked in a long continuous plastic casing at the "factory" which is peeled off as the dogs shoot out. Its a crazy process. I beleive Ballpark is one such brand.

Eating removed hot dog skins? Eeew. The casing is PART of the hot dog... but only if they have one. There are skinless dogs out there you know if you insist on feeding them to your children. All dogs are not created equal as any adult who likes them can tell you but there are people who are oblivious and will willingly put anything in their mouth. Brands aside, I prefer the snap of a natural casing weiner that has been grilled. I find that kids in general think a hot dog is a hot dog. There are those out there that think dogs with skins are a choking hazard. You mean more than the hot dog already is?

6.4 engine replacement in an ambulance
Keith Browning replied to vloney's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
That is interesting. -
He he he... that is a lesson you learn once.

Nothing personal. You see, it has been 11 years now that my wife and I have been feeding our small children who have difficult pallets to satisfy. I am sick of hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, buttered noodles and apple juice... or whatever they didn't finish eating.

Awesome! But how much did YOU get to eat Jim? Any time I am manning the grill at an outing I rarely get to sit down and eat... no problem though as I usually have a full belly from "testing" food to make sure it is safe for everyone to eat.

anyone notice the new front cover?
Keith Browning replied to Matt Saunoras's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I have noticed this on recent repairs. I took some pics... had an article in mind. Bettter go review that and get writin! I am in search of any documantation about this change. -
If I had a customer do that to me I would stop working on the truck until it cooled. I am a professional however I am also a human being. Treat me with contempt and see what happens.

My experience is similar though I have never had to replace an alternator for this concern as of yet. I tested the senders and found no problem with them however I suspect there is an issue with the left side. If the truck returns I may just replace it regardless as it is the most likely cause... even if I can't prove it other than it fixes the concern.

Don't you guys have FANS in Canada?

Personally I think it is all a waste of money. ALL of the trucks that have injector related problems have been subjected to neglect or contamination. Dino or synthetic, if you change your oil as you are supposed to you will not have issues. I stand by that statement. The only time I would consider the extra expense of a synthetic oil is in extreme operating conditions - predominantly severe cold where good oil flow is crucial on start ups. In all honesty, when was the last time you saw a base engine failure on a Power Stroke that you could say with certainty was due to the oil itself? I have never seen Hot Shots Secret in action or know anyone that has used it so I can't say if it "works." How did the engine get to the point that it needs something like this? Did we forget to change our oil? Did we trust oil labs too much and extend our oil change intervals? I have been seeing quite a few high mileage 6 liters that run really good and have a regular maintenance record.

Because it is covered by Warranty stupid. Otherwise the car would not be at the stealership!

I was thinking the same thing. I typically have to get medieval with the manifold bolts though - rust!

Buzzing noise after shutting off engine.
Keith Browning replied to Mekanik's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Now I have got to go looking for this. The only thing I was aware of running after shut down was the reductant pump emptying the line. -
What is the deal with saleen?

I think we had a similar experience with a Roush as well. -
Murdered!

Good thinking. However wouldn't we expect complaints of driveability concerns, a check engine light or a DTC or two if there were any of these concerns? Not disputing, just adding thoughts... remember we need to find evidence or proof. But I would think that even pumps from time to time can just fail on thier own.

Maybe the fact that I live on warranty work is nothing to complain about.

It's a 2011 F650 with dual tanks that do not equalize. The diagnostics are straight forward and everything tested good. My test results at the transfer pump are: [*]VPWR =B+ [*]VREF (from alternator) - 7 volts [*]ground circuit = a-okay! [*]Left & Right level sensor resistance = appropriate for fuel level The WSM says to replace the pump. I did but it seems to not have corrected the concern. The truck came in with both tanks full to the top (which annoyed me) so I had to drop the fuel levels to verify the concern and I also monitored the sender Resistances AS I emptied each tank - no glitches detected. I know there are different modes of operation for this pump and sometimes a truck has to be run for some time before the pump actually moves fuel from one tank to the other. I am asking if what time frames anyone has noticed for this to happen and do you think if the right tank is full and the left tank is @ 1/4 would that throw the pump into thinking there is a fault and not transfer fuel?
