  1. ...on my way to the Yonkers training center ya knuckle head. Keep riding that fire truck son.
  2. This is great! Make that awesome.
  3. So I am sitting in traffic waiting to pay the toll and cross the George Washington Bridge and I come across a new Mercedes Sprinter. DRW with a BlueTec diesel engine and it looked "custom" though I can't say for sure. I am unfamiliar with the Mercedes trim levels. This may have been a conversion van. Two tone paint, black and a beautiful dark red. Chrome accents and chrome wheels, blackened window tint and for un-known reasons... a grille guard. Other than the goofy looking grille guard this was a sharp looking van!
  4. Never mind. It's a vehicle "not in North America."
  5. I noticed today that there is a new listing in the 2013 model year vehicles in OASIS for a Cargo? I assume this is a truck? Anyone know anything about this?
  6. Started a 3-day class in Yonkers NY today. The tech next to me is a "young-ish" lady. I am totally cool with this but it is intriguing as in all these years she is the first I have personally met. Just curious if any of you guys have worked with any female techs or know of any.
  7. Having never done this repair on a 6.9L I drew a blank... then I remembered Google is our friend. It looks like the rear engine cover is sealed with a gasket. I found a Fel-pro image of a gasket and seal kit which did not appear to have a wear sleeve. I am thinking though that an older, and I assume high mileage engine like this might benefit from a wear sleeve. At the very least be prepared with some really fine emery and crocus cloth to clean up the crank where the seal makes contact. Also, from another picture I saw it looks like the flywheel bolt holes in the crank look as though they are not blind holes. Meaning, the bolts will require some sealant to prevent oil seeping and fouling your new clutch. Look at the crank closely and make that determination for yourself. If I am wrong, so be it. I would rather be wrong than you having oil leak from the bolts. Good luck with the repair and a picture or two of the back of this thig would be good to add to this topic... if you can.
  8. Sounds like a pre-existing cylinder problem possibly caused by the original injectors but that does not explain why it ran "okay" for you after replacing the HPOP. Perhaps when you get to a precise diagnosis we can come to a conclusion. Sorry that this offers no suggestions.
  9. Damn French! Dont you guys get English too? You shouldn't have to wait if an English version is already available. That is like me, here in NEW JERSEY having to press 1 for English. WTF!!!
  10. Do you mean it loads just as fast or it looks like the same old site? Why does it seem like you Canajiuns are "behind" us Muricans on getting changes or new information?
  11. Using the coolant airlift tool to fill the system works best and that is how Ford recommends filling the 6.4L to eliminate air pockets. I find that my air lift almost perfectly pulls the correct amount of coolant into the system and requires very little adjustment. No more need to get the engine to operating temp and then a cool down to a adjust the final level. Though I prefer to verify the level cold if at all possible.
  12. And have a lot of patience. EVERYTHING loads slowly.
  13. I don't think I have ever seen a 6.0L cover cavitate (not saying they don't) but here is what a 6.4L cover looks like.
  14. Hate to tell you my friend in the great northern territory, there already is here in the states... CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 12B35 DELIVERY HOLD: Certain 2012 Model Year F-Super Duty Vehicles Equipped with a 6.7L Diesel Engine - Primary and Secondary Cooling System Radiator Inspection and Repair
  15. I have always had mixed feelings about that. On one hand it's nice for new customers to see/meet the confident experienced technicians that will take care of their vehicles IF they ever need us... but look at all of those broken Fords! Hope they already signed on the doted line.
  16. I actually stopped and thought about this one though I never went as far as to ask Ford for more clarification on the seal. If it were to act as an oil slinger that would make sense. O opened the package and I installed it the way I found it assembled - as you should never separate the seal from the wear sleeve. Finding the step spacer made it more clear that the seal needed a gap set between the seal and that metal shield. But now I wonder how to approach one of these in the future when the seal... oil pump or cover need to be replaced. How the hell are you supposed to get the seal off? How are you supposed to get the wear sleeve off now? I know how but you can't use the ball-peen hammer method with the seal and oil pump installed. You guys suck... now I am thinking about this and doubting which way that sleeve is really supposed to go!
  17. Question is, what is that slinger supposed to sling if it is on the outside of the seal?
  18. Is it that bad now? I had to get prior approval for one as related damage past 3/36... Pictures too!
  19. Full bottle to the secondary filter housing idle/fast idle 15 minutes This has worked for me for one injector fitting and one HPFP leak test with the oil drained.
  20. He's no fire fighter. He just likes to play with the siren... and his hose. Besides that he is right. Just take the fender wells out and you have access, though that silly EGR cooler is in the way on the left side.
  21. But tanker trucks are "relatively" safe. People are not. Back in the day a lot more guys in the shop used to smoke cigarettes and smoking in the shop while working was tolerated. It always amazed me that guys would be so complacent and risk the safety of everyone around them... spraying Brakleen with a butt in their mouth, while replacing a fuel filter, while standing right in the next bay where another tech was replacing a fuel pump spilling gas everywhere. You get the idea. Nowadays people wine that they "smell" a cigarette. Pussies. Common sense? Nonsense.
