  1. Large connectors like that typically are not serviceable and I don't recall ever seeing something like that ever. I would way you are looking at harness replacement here unless you can find a scrap harness.
  2. Here, I found this overview (file attachement) on the PTS website. Page 8 mentions body and wiring...
  3. Look in here ----> Ford Truck Body Builder Advisory Service Somwhere...
  4. Is this a 6.4L FQR with the inside of the engine painted? Nope. It's a 2008 F-350 6.4L that is a little sludged up. Has a blown turbo, well lubricated CAT/DPF and a light popping sound from the intake when cold. It's got 46,000 miles and over 2700 engine hours. The amazing part is that the truck is owned by a service station owner.
  5. Yep. That and the coil that was sitting on it. The customer has been having coils fail on him over the last 6 months, this being the fourth one and he is replacing them "as they fail." Worst part is it took a minute to find my plug socket... never did locate my gapper.
  6. I would have encouraged you to do so. We have become used to the new industry standard of swapping out parts like this. I recall personally rebuilding steering gears and alternators when I was just new to Ford and we stocked parts for these types of repairs. I think it can help give you a better understanding of how the pats and systems work. Nothing wrong with swapping stuff out if it is the best cost effective option, I just thing something is lost in the process sometimes.
  7. Looks like you might be the guinea pig there Greg. The gauge operation should be unaffected. As for the DTE and MPG calculation I am curious too.
  8. Thanx Gary. Since my dealer will be a medium duty truck dealer again it is good to hear news about this going foward... though these are rumors for now?
  9. For those of us who were around when the 6.0L was a new engine, the injectors were an early problem and had some revisions before and after production began. The 2004 level injectors implemented the DLC coating and a different volume over the intensifier piston.
  10. See I have multiple back ups of all kinds of stuff. Website stuff is current and loaded on a server so that is not a problem though I have copies of everything I have published over the last 6 years. Do I need it all? No, probably not but I cant bring myself to delete it. Financial stuff I back up on a disk and shove into my safe. I just took advantage of McAfee's encrypted back up service for my email, Internet favs and such. Programs, simply require re-installing. I ha a fun time searching my house for all of the carious disks. They are now in a zip-lock bag and are also in my safe where I can find them again. Dammit! I am still reloading. DAMMIT!
  11. Good point but at least it looks like there is some dialog between Steve and his parts department. If they both learn something here it is a good thing. If my parts guys give bad info or advice to parts customers over the front counter then the whole dealership and probably the "dealership body" as a whole looks bad. If his parts guy it telling him to use something that does not exist or is not the correct product for a particular purpose then they need to figure this out together. Personally, I now prefer my parts guys come to me with this stuff as I can catch shit like this.
  12. Yes nice find indeed, but how often does THAT happen?
  13. Me either... Google provides many links to sources that show VC11 as being antifreeze but little additional information. And the more time I spend thinking about this the more I think I have never heard of VC-11 When it comes to the diesels, the only products I know that Ford recommends using is VC-9 Iron Cleaner to clean the metals in the system and Simple Green to de-grease the system in instances of oil contamination. So I tried to put together a list of the "VC" products we use. Some are either obsolete or are variations like container size. Also keep in mind there are different, variations if you will, of some of these numbers which denote usage and regional applications like Canada for example. [*]VC-1 Cooling System Cleaner and Oxidation Neutralizer [*]VC-2 Specialty Orange Engine Coolant [*]VC-3 Specialty Orange Engine Coolant with Bittering Agent [*]VC-4 Premium Green Engine Coolant [*]VC-5 Premium Green Engine Coolant with Bittering Agent [*]VC-6 Cooling System Stop Leak Pellets [*]VC-7 Premium Gold Engine Coolant with Bittering Agent [*]VC-8 Diesel Cooling System Additive for Green and Gold coolants [*]VC-9 Engine Cooling System Iron Cleaner [*]VC-10 Specialty Green Engine Coolant with Bittering Agent [*]VC-11 [*]VC-12 Specialty Orange Engine Coolant Revitalizer If any of this is wrong please point out which one and provide a description. I don't have any more time to look this stuff up right now.
  14. Well the standpipe kit (6E7Z-9A332- COMES with parts for BOTH SIDES.
  15. Good to hear you didn't just park it. Time for another dragnet operation. I think we need to post some more "join forddoctorsdts.com" requests on the FMC boards.
  16. Set him on fire. Things well get hot really fast.
  17. You should be working with me... no turbos, rarely enough injectors and I am waiting 2+ days for an oil cooler. The only thing I can say in defense of MY situation is that my dealer is in the process of being bought... More to come.
  18. I didn't look at the time specifically. I did look at the WSM procedure, then the truck, then the WSM procedure and then the truck. I left the lower shroud in and the stator bolted to the engine. Man, there are a lot of hoses in the engine compartment huh?
  19. Wow, it has been a while since I have heard mention of a ghost drive. The popular thing now is the back up services like Carbonite which encript and store your data off premesis. For some reason I still am not sure about having my data under someone else's care but I am warming up to the idea. I just figured out my McAfee comes with 1 Gig of back up. I might set that up along with my external hard drive which I do use fo back ups but I have to do it manually. I havent in like 6 months so I was sweating this at first for sure. Thankfully I was able to get my sysrem to boot and recover my data... this time. Ghost huh? Hmmm.
  20. My HDD failed on Saturday night on my main PC... the one where all the magic happens. Fortunately I was able to get the PC to boot and I spent part of Sunday backing up my data. This evening I installed a new drive and began reloading everything. Uhhhg! This is going to take me days
  21. I l;ike the fact that it doubles as a CFR. If I ever own one I would not lend it to a customer but road testing and making data recordings will definately be easeier than messing around with a laptop.
  22. Had me one in today leaking bad from a wobbly shaft. This was the first time I had to dig into a 6.7 at all so it was slow and time for observation... like that pump is obnoxiously shaped!
