  1. Prize?!?!? You got your face slap smilie AND a 5 headbanger salute. Speaking of PayPal, I can enable subscriptions for the forum and make you pay to be able to log in here. Keep it up Bradley!
  2. We have a winner! A 2007 E450 6.0L - the #3 intake lifter roller failed and ground away on the camshaft. The lifter is permanently stuck in the block. I had found throughout the engine including the oil cooler reservoir which had a HPOP inlet screen with missing panels. This was the paint dipped FQR job I posted about. No mousse Bruce.
  3. http://www.octaneacademy.com This isn’t a reality show full of spoiled housewives, bronzed idiots or overgrown cupcakes. It’s a world of intense competition, challenges, irreverent personalities & humor. It might have been founded by Ford, but it’s ruled by four action sports superstars: Ken Block, Brian Deegan, Tanner Foust and Vaughn Gittin Jr. They’ve got street cred you can only dream of, but they’re giving you a shot to experience it. If you're lucky enough to get picked, you'll spend four days taking on other fearless competitors through a ton of different challenges born out of the crazy minds of these guys. It won't be a walk in the park—your athleticism, attitude and audacity will be tested. If you rise above the rest, you'll be crowned a champion and drive home in one of four tricked-out rides from Ford.
  4. Let's play guess the failure. The only clue I am giving you is that this oil drain plug came from a Navistar diesel engine. Good luck... and I am not tellin until someone guesses.
  5. The new calibration also catches low coolant. I had a couple with leaking radiator hoses that set the check engine light.
  6. Bingo! But these clowns on the popular forums either know too much (more than us or FMC) are listening to the wrong people or are just to stupid to know any better. I think this is where to some degree Ford and (us) at the dealers are failing to communicate these things with our customers.
  7. I responded to a guy over at the monkey house that stated he had declined the reflash and said the dealer would clear it from the "system" so it would look like it was done. I called him on it and stated that would be fraud on both his part and the dealership's part. His tune changed. How much do you want to bet that at some time this is going to happen somewhere? An engine that was supposedly reprogrammed under 11B23 with 24 quarts in the crankcase and melted pistons or glazed cylinders. Unfortunately we all know that Ford rarely walks the talk.

  9. I noticed that too though the Alliant picture is not that clear. Larry sent me a picture that you can clearly make out all of the o-rings. No steel backer ring. Most of the failures of the inlet seal I came across were because of the machining of the injector head... a partially dislodged snap ring and a cracked backer ring. This seal kit would have not helped me in any of those instances. I have not personally seen an inlet seal fail in years.
  10. It looks like the Alliant number Matt provided (AP0002) is a kit for the entire injector.
  11. Not sure about the screens but overheating likely has damaged the injector cups at the least and possibly cracked a head... maybe both. Look for signs of combustion leaks at the injector tips.
  12. Yeah that is a common thing you will see on the public forums. Guys pissin and moaning about what they DON'T like regardless of the improvements and the safeguards the newest calibrations bring. Then there is the "big brother" aspect of the complaining. It gives some of these peeps something to talk about... like their Blackstone reports.
  13. I love the chemistry kit. I gotta remember to put together another pair "Nerd" looking safety glasses for when I am using it. Cause you gotta have some fun whilst you work. For those of you who have not been paying attention, the nitrites that Jim mentioned that are in the gold coolant accelerate the break down and depletion of the anti-corrosion protection in the orange coolant.
  14. What a mess. If it wasn't hidden by the van it is shoehorned into it would be embarrasing. You should see the smoke that leaks past the engine cover seal as it gently rises up and over the dash.
  15. I was searching the forums and I know we discussed this... then I ended up finding Bruce's post tellin us that IH made them unavailable.
  16. Probably stuck but I would TRY installing an older IDS version. Your VCM may, or may not automatically update to the older software. I personally have never tried it so this is only a guess. I realize the updates are pricey but having the newest version will bring you more vehicle compatibility and restore your ability to program modules with updates which is a necessity in my opinion.
  17. Working on a 450 front end with various issues. And I keep coming up with human causes for the failures... like a missing o-ring on the right hub... a missing outer axle snap ring... like a missing vacuum fitting on the knuckle that let water into the hub... a front drive shaft that was replaced for a noise that was actually caused by a blown out axle shaft universal joint. Yes, this was at another dealer. Presumably a human worked on it.
  18. Some intense BG effects would be cool... like screaming!
