  1. Just installed IDS 74 and updated to 74.01 with no problems
  2. You know Jim, it would be great if the software could advise you to install the next version. Heck, it KNOWS what version you HAVE. I guess I had better download 74 and burn a disk before bed.
  3. Thanx for the vote of confidence. The sale on the "ship" has been delayed again. I am just waiting for the page to turn. I too have heard good things about Beyer Bros. and they will likely be expanding on the commercial and fleet end of the business. Good for me. Despite all this, there is a lot for me to be worried about but that is just how I am. When you have a home to pay for and little kids to provide for, changes like these keep you awake at night. ...still not one fucking word of recognition from the current management. BEH!
  4. I Just installed 73 a couple of weeks ago!!! 74 must have just come out as I updated 7.3 late last week.
  5. @9:06 am I ran my IDS Software Update Manager and it stated there were no updates. This leads me to think I connected to the server. There may be multiple servers. Is this the IDS update you are asking about???
  6. Work for beer eh? <strokes his chin thoughtfully> That's a deal I could get behind depending on the work... and the beer.
  7. Sweet... which pisses me off since I "ain't got." Right now I am paying for a family which is priceless but some day, some way I hope to eventually be able to do something for ME! Shoot, a guy can dream can't he? And just to be informed, BendPak XPR-10Aa is a lift.
  8. Great mod Dustin!!! Show us a pic when it's complete.
  9. I was actually able to repair the PCM. A gentle pry on pin #24 then to straighten it I used a small pair of flat blade pliers. Pin #48 I simply grabbed with the pliers and pulled it back up. A little contact cleaner and all was good.
  10. I was finishing up an oil cooler replacement yesterday and the damn engine wouldn't start. Cranked really well, but wouldn't fire. Had codes for both the VCV and PCV control circuits. Thought oh shit to myself... what did I unplug or damage by mistake while in there? Being hotter than hell and humid my patience level was severely tested. I tested the circuits through the solenoids - 3 ohms. Load tested the harness and blinded myself the headlamp was so bright. SOMEBODY teased me that the pump went bad. NOT!!! So I slept on it and this morning it dawned on me that I never looked at the PCM. You can see the picture of the bent pins HERE at the bottom of the page. I am being tested for some reason. The diesel gods must have something planned for me.
  11. I keep reading comments every so often that unplugging the EGR valve on a 6.0L will affect the cooling fan operation. Is there any documentation or proof that supports this?
  12. I am curious as to what you guys charge to test the coolant? The test strips and kits cost money and there really is no "part" to charge out so now we charge and re-coup the cost through the labor. For now we decided to charge .3 to test and inspect the system and add the revitalizer if necessary... of course the fluid is extra. I have several of these under my belt now - not bad once you get used to it and realize what you are doing though I wish the terminology in the WSM matched the instructions in the kit.
  13. I just ran the Turbo Boost and VVT tests the other day with IDS 73.05 and had no problems.
  14. You should be downlading and installing IDS 73, then run the updater and update to IDS 73.05 which is current as of today.
  15. Yeah, but you are a bit taller than me. I almost feel like a little kid standing next to you.
  16. The torch seems to be one of my favorite tools lately. Seems like every truck I have to get something glowing to get it loose. Today it was glowplug module bracket nuts. Seized and rounded off to boot. I was pretty torched myself!
  17. And that is the main problem with them not to mention the FICM harness and the engine harness is all one part.
  18. Yes Sir and it is always a pleasure meeting up with you and I am sorry we didn't have more time to chat as we were both working. You are also one big dude!
  19. Jezuz. I would hate to think that the rest of the harness looks like.
  20. Yes, I learned of this when the Ford people came through town with a 2011 to all of the dealers and in training. The engine exhaust braking is also mentioned in the sales literature:
  21. It's cool that you get to meet a lot of people and see a lot of nice places on your travels with working. I would have to imagine that lovely Newark New Jersey is NOT one of the nicer places you have been by a long shot. Shit I wont even go there!
