  1. Your guess is as good as mine. Considering the difference between changing some injector hold down clamps and major engine damage and repairs it might be a smart thing for Ford to do.
  2. 3474 - 6.7L DIESEL - BROKEN INJECTOR HOLD DOWN CLAMP - BUILT BEFORE 6/3/2011 6.7L DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 6/3/2011 MAY EXPERIENCE A LOOSE FUEL INJECTOR DUE TO A BROKEN INJECTOR HOLD DOWN CLAMP. THE SUSPECT INJECTOR HOLD DOWN CLAMPS HAVE BEEN PURGED FROM SERVICE STOCK AND REPLACED WITH CERTIFIED STOCK. CERTIFIED INJECTOR HOLD DOWN CLAMPS ARE MARKED WITH A WHITE PAINT DOT.
  3. It has a very modern and stout appearance.
  4. Have you seen this? www.drivecat.com Is this what CAT and Navistar were planning to team up on?
  5. Well Doc thinks it's a pulled muscle having spasms which is better news than a subluxation in my neck. Now that I think about it I probably did this lifting a Torqshift off of a transmission jack and onto the trans bench. Only thing I can think of. So, I just sat down and cracked open two prescriptions and nothing to do for the next three days. Good thing is the prescriptions do not say don't take with alcohol so I guess 1 or 2 beers will be okay... it is the country's birthday you know!
  6. DAMMIT!!! It became evident last night I have a pinched nerve in my neck that started out with soreness on the drive home. I can't move my head or my right arm without excruciating pain. After very little sleep I now sit here waiting for my Dr's office to open and pray they can get me in... and friggin SOON or I am gonna start flipping out. I need meds!
  7. You might want to hold onto these for a while. With the coolers having a $75 core charge now I'll bet that new cores will start to become rare making them worth more $$$
  8. I guess some of you guys better stop cutting the heads off those bolts. The latest round of harassment from the warranty police includes ANY part charged out that is not part of the written procedure in the workshop manual In other words, if it is in black and white the body bolts had better not be charged out... unless I suppose it is not re-usable in some legitimate way. Otherwise be prepared to supply twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence...
  9. When I was a kid I wanted to become a baker. How the HELL did I end up here?
  10. I am not Brad... but I concur with his statement as I have jumped into trucks after recalibrating them and they were real sluggish off the line and at WOT. If we step into the WABAC machine we should recall that the re-learn process may not happen until EOT reaches 130'F and it may be necessary to re-clear the KAM, cycle the ignition twice and let the truck idle until VGT_LEARN reads "YES." If we don't consciously perform the VGT re-learn procedure and verify that it has completed and no conditions that can affect power exist the truck may not perform properly. It may take time for the VGT learn to complete if we just back the truck out of the shop and park it. I am attaching TSB 09-15-6 for your reading pleasure which addresses this concern.
  11. I was going to ask what the hell is going on out there in Kansas? Now, what pothead doesn't already have a relationship with Frito-Lay?
  12. First of all, I love your shop. The floor shines! As for there always being work for diesel techs you are most likely correct. My FSE explained to me in a recent conversation that I could go ANYWHERE and get a job. The number one question he is asked is "do you know any diesel techs looking for work?" or "where can I find a diesel tech. The lack of advertising for techs at leas here in NJ is largely due to the fact that dealers put out ads and get no responses or only get guys with no training or certification... guys that cant fix shit, unmotivated and so on. Some have given up.
  13. I am curious too. A comparison between the first 4 years of production for each engine; 7.3L 6.0L 6.4L. You might also want to break it down between the (number of claims) and (repair cost per claim) I am not going to argue with Rich but It does seem like whenever I see a 6.4L more often than not it is a big, expensive pain in the ass repair.
  14. Anyone go looking for a job lately or just looking to see what is out there? I am shocked at how few listings I can find in print and on-line. Once upon a time the classifieds was a full section of 8 to 10 pages on average in the Sunday papers. Last week there was about 1/3 of one page!
  15. It's a really thin walled socket. You know how stubborn those exhaust fasteners can be? I have resided to heating every one with the torch before loosening and have yet to break one or round the corners since adapting that strategy. In the long run it saves me time from not having to deal with a messed up fastener and the torch use probably only adds 10 minutes at the most to the job. As for the socket, I really was doing fine without it but my tool monger bought it with me in mind... and I had a guilt thing going to I bought it. Like I said, I am taking this up with Snap-On directly. I don't want another socket. I want my money back!
  16. Really? The turbocharger and the turbo pedestal must be removed to access the cooler which means the cab is coming off.
  17. Yay. I got my warranty replacement socket on Friday. Yesterday, Monday, I used my new socket. First pull on the ratchet the socket split... just like the first one. I am thinking about bypassing my Snap-On dealer and contacting Snap-On directly. This is BULLSHIT!
  18. Anyone run into this DTC? I pulled it all on it's lonesome and no problems with the cooling system or the sensors. Freeze frame data shows 23'F ECT/EOT difference so I am wondering what the threshold for the code really is. I was under the impression that the EGR cooler efficiency was not as big of a deal with the 6.4 as the oil cooler doesn't feed the EGR cooler coolant like the 6.0L According the PCED the truck is getting an oil cooler. Haven't looked in the WSM yet as to what is involved in replacing it.
  19. No, but you CAN buy the "Little Guppie" multi-tool!
  20. Nice story. I do believe kindness is rewarded in many ways and your lending a hand rewarded you in several ways it seems. Kudos to you!
  21. I am well aware of that. There are no fuel trims over 5.
  22. Looks like two cables - one is extra long
