  1. I wanted to laugh at that but it quickly occurred to me that at some point I can see that a customer that fails to have that calibration installed MAY end up liable for such failures as this. If that calibration does what we beleive it does, hopefully failures like this will become rare.

  3. At first they had me with the electric power wrenches. I have always just assumed they would have been pneumatic. The system what monitors fastener tightening is indeed fastening. I wonder how it knows you are tightening the correct fastener and not just some other bolt on the body.

  8. It's not staph ya dork! But you are right, washing your hands frquently when you "should" is quite beneficial. Keeping your fingers out of your peepers is also a good thing to remember. READ THIS and educate yerselfisses more on this topic.
  9. Dammit! I got pink eye. Started in my left eye and now it's in my right eye too. If you have never had pink eye let me tell you it sucks. The itching, scratchy feeling, the ooooozing of mucous and constant tearing. Not to mention I woke up with my left eye welded shut this morning. When that ooze dries it's like glue. Went to the Doc today. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
  10. Check for engine/transmission alignment issues. If the trans has ever been out and a dowel pin is missing mis-alignment can cause cracked flexplates. I have seen that several times over the years! Check for excessive crankshaft end play and torque converter to fluid pump wear/play issues. Either of those can cause the flex plate to over flex under high load conditions and stress the metal until it fatigues and cracks.
  11. We discussed this several times over the last year or so... the first discussion touched upon the efficiency of the coolers. Cant seem to find the thread at this moment. I do concede that I would rather see one of these coolers installed rather than an EGR delete. Even a less efficient cooler would still be beneficial. I like to breath clean air too.

  15. Perhaps that has something to do with it? I wonder what the scrap value is.
  16. Anyone catch the EGR cooler core charge announcement? Not much information is given and no explanation as to why NOW there is a core charge. Are we about to see reman coolers? These aren't reman part numbers so me thinks not. Maybe Ford is selling them to Bullet Proof Diesel... NAH!

  18. Nope. Not me either. Makes no sense as I can't think of any sane reason for doing so. Diabolical sabotage?
  19. If I can recall correctly, there was a TSB on removing one or more huck-rivets at the engine crossmember and replacing them with bolts. The loose fastener would create a heavy clunk or snap in the frame during certain turns. A heavy structural noise will travel... you might think it's coming from the floorboard when sitting in the drivers seat. I have attached the two TSB's below.
  20. This video and many others are from the powerstrokediesel.com website... the business connection section. You need to use your ford login to access. A lot of the stuff there looks to be Blue Diamond Truck / Blue Diamond Parts as well. If the videos are not directly from the mothership they would have come from Motorcraft or BDP. The funniest thing about this is I have seen this video several times over the years and I only just realized the mistake.
  21. In this video, at 10 seconds in the narrator states that EGR valves reduce "Nitrous Oxide" emissions. That can't be right. Is nitrous oxide the same as oxides of nitrogen? No. I am no chemist but I know that NOx is not the same as N2O.
