  1. Two questions and I know you probably already answered this - I want to clarify. 1 - Two of the other valves in that cylinder appear to have cracks in them. Correct? 2 - The broken piece of valve is what I see embedded in the cylinder head. Correct? Great pics by the way, THANK YOU for sharing them. Our first 6.7L failure.
  2. I had raised that point when we first discussed the Bullet Proof EGR cooler but it seems to me that from an emissions stand point these people are at the very least not eliminating the EGR cooler. Though likely not as efficient it would be safe to say the coolers are better than no cooler? I also haven't heard of then causing any DTC's either or driveability concerns. Has anyone?
  3. I find it fascinating that you don't need an account and login to access the software through that link you posted Jim. I always access my software updates through the Rotunda link on the PTS website.
  4. Over the years we have seen many harness problems - here, the take outs for the cam and crank sensors drop down from the top front of the engine and route behind the front accessory bracketry where the convolute wrapping becomes brittle from heat and falls apart. This exposes the wires and allows chafing to occur. Since you have problems with CMP/CKP and sync it seems likely the harness is causing your problems.
  5. I just had my first experience with the SYNC system in a Super Duty. Remember I am a truck only guy. The system was not picking up voice commands which turned out to be a faulty APIM. To me it seems like one of those systems that has all the appearances of confusion. It's not so bad once you start actually doing things with it. at least for me... now it's not just a confusing web course. Now that SYNC is in trucks I am sure I will be seeing more of it.
  6. Dwayne, I commend your passion and drive for going after what you want. For many people being afraid to make a change keeps them locked up whether it be geographically, professionally or even emotionally. I have always wondered what else there is for me - could my life or career be better elsewhere? Fortunately things are not too bad but all men dream and all men wonder at some point whether it is looking forward or reflecting upon the past. I heard about your career endeavor and I wish you well with it. I also want to thank you for the new phrase "Tool School" which I WILL find a use for. By the way you are always welcome here as are all members that leave the "dealership."
  7. I haven't heard of any major failures yet but a few must have occurred by now. A few pictures would be awesome!
  8. Oh no you didn't! You did not just say that!!!
  9. The last one I did I removed the headlights which took no time at all. With the nut exposed I was able to get a torch tip right on the nut and the bolts came out like buttah!
  10. I love the contradictory statements here and what happened to being required to replace the body bolts? Now all of a sudden we are trusted to apply thread lock? USE OF AIR TOOLS TO LOOSEN BODY SUPPORT MOUNT BOLTS CAN CAUSE THE CAGE NUTS TO SPIN INSIDE BODY. [*]Use hand tools to loosen the number 1 body support mount bolt(s) from the affected side(s). Use air tools to complete removal of the bolt(s). [*]Use a wire wheel to clean all thread lock material from the threads of the body support mount bolt(s). [*]Apply Motorcraft® Threadlock and Sealer to the threads of the body support mount bolt(s). We have beaten this dead horse several times and I still insist on lots of heat and loosening by hand all the way. Is a propane torch really hot enough for you guys? I prefer oxy-acetylene being careful not to smoke the insulators.
  11. I think they call it progress Jim. I am sure it is beneficial in some ways though probably annoying to many. I guess is we will have no choice but to watch this play out.
  12. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. Have a safe and joyous time. Our kids made it without popping! Man I wish I was 5 again.
  13. Now you guys have me thinking about moving there.
  14. Who in their right mind would pass up the opportunity to work with Grampy Jim?

  17. Awwww Sheeeeeeit. I spilled a black Russian on my keyboard! Nnnnow mmmy tyyyyyyping isss alll slurrrrred and wet.
  18. I was going to make some remark like "have you ever heard of a metric pipe fitting?" Google it... maybe there is and maybe there isn't. Whatcha workin on there?
  19. Ahyup. We saw the first GEM in Super Duty trucks in 1999 models that appeared in 1998 along with door ajar switches in the door latches. Good to point that out as we don't want to confuse anyone.
  20. Fuck that. I just rediscovered vodka and video games. I do have some dining room chairs that need fixing before the holiday though and what a cowinkydink... they were made in Mike Chan's home town of Brampton!
