  1. The 6.0L was an eye opener because it was new and an improvement over the 7.3L where throttle response and and power was concerned. The pilot injection and the calibration in general required EVERYTHING else to be spot on. As many of us suffered through the new model giddiness was short lived as EBP sensors, EGR valves, ICP sensors and turbochargers all threw monkey wrenches into the works. I for one do not understand how you could recall anything good about a calibration that simply didn't work well with the harware... with the exception of the quieter idle.
  2. Gimme ~250 word commentary on the topic and I'll put it on the front page. I'm back to publishin' stuff there again...
  3. Former glory? The 2003/2004 trucks ran like shit compared to the current calibration.
  4. Scooter? Jim... fucking scooter? Is that a bicycle with a baseball card in the spokes for a motor? Dennis The Menace has a friggin scooter. True men ride motorcycles, machines, Harleys, dirt bikes, motorcross, ATV or a quad. Scooter? You got a limp wrist happening there? Youda been further ahead saying "bike"... Color at this point is irrelevant.

  6. I read that today is Henry Ford's birthday. How much do you know about the man? From Wikipedia: Henry Ford, c. 1919 Born July 30, 1863(1863-07-30) Greenfield Township, Dearborn, Michigan, U.S. Died April 7, 1947 (aged 83) Fair Lane, Dearborn, Michigan, U.S. Occupation Business, Engineering Net worth ▲$188.1 billion, based on information from Forbes – February 2008. Religion Protestant Episcopal Spouse(s) Clara Jane Bryant Children Edsel Ford Parents William Ford and Mary Ford ____________________________________________ Henry Ford (July 30, 1863 – April 7, 1947) was the American founder of the Ford Motor Company and father of modern assembly lines used in mass production. His introduction of the Model T automobile revolutionized transportation and American industry. He was a prolific inventor and was awarded 161 U.S. patents. As owner of the Ford Motor Company, he became one of the richest and best-known people in the world. He is credited with "Fordism", that is, the mass production of large numbers of inexpensive automobiles using the assembly line, coupled with high wages for his workers. Ford had a global vision, with consumerism as the key to peace. Ford did not believe in accountants; he amassed one of the world's largest fortunes without ever having his company audited under his administration. Henry Ford's intense commitment to lowering costs resulted in many technical and business innovations, including a franchise system that put a dealership in every city in North America, and in major cities on six continents. Ford left most of his vast wealth to the Ford Foundation but arranged for his family to control the company permanently.

    Chevy

That is Chevrolet dude, they are tying to change their image! The best solution for you is to go directly to the Chevrolet website http://www.chevrolet.com, click on the "Locate a Dealer" link on the very top of the page, enter your zip code and check the list of dealers that comes back... I'll bet there are still a lot within 25 miles of you.
  8. The last 6.4L I repaired for gas in the fuel was covered by the owner's insurance

  11. I have only seen spy pictures, had Ford released pics and info yet?
  12. https://owneradvantagerewards.ford.com/About.cfm My dealer has it yet that is all I know about it. I could ask for info.
  13. Cool, but what an incredible waste of money!
  14. When I first started working back in 1986 we still repaired things like engines, and alternators...I recall around 1989 it all went down hill.
  15. About 15 years ago we "technicians" realized that our SSN's were being used as our tech numbers and were being printed on invoices. This practice was immediately halted as a lawsuit could... you know. We now only use the last four digits of our SSN for employee numbers and I am thinking that even there we should reconsider the use of that.
  16. You have to snoop around at the rest of thier products, I like the flame thrower The description says "Goes great whith the smoke screen!"
  17. It seems to me that EITHER way there is the possibility of "other" damage to the FICM that will leave you with a frown on your face. So under warranty, let us say you follow the TSB and REPAIR the FICM and it still has a problem. What do you do? We have enough problems with the warranty Nazis without having to explain how the didn't fix the truck and a complete FICM then had to be installed. Who pays for that???
  18. Have him sign up here... Update, I got word today that my truck is not fixed and will be returning soon. Keep in mind that mine is a 6.2L but I imagine a 6.7L would fall victim to this concern as well.
  19. Actually I have been pulling out in-tact screens. It used to seem as though you could bet that at least one section was gone without a trace. To the original poster - I just had a 6.0L apart for low ICP cranking when hot. I never did find the problem on this particular truck. All of the o-rings looked okay, the pump fitting looked okay as did the regulator though it was missing the heat shield that snaps onto it. This one got all new parts and a replacement heat shield got it hot and hot soaked it about 6 times and rechecked over night - all good. Sometimes you have no choice but to throw some parts at one. I hate saying that but we all have been there.
  20. So what are you saying Aaron? Is this evidence of Ford imitating what we read on the Internet? (the topic on soldering the FICM) We have some pictures and instructions floating around various forums and a few people fixed their FICM's... now we have yet another money saving band-aid.
  21. The new one piece fitting is installed in V8 engines beginning with engine ser# 431736 built on or after 2/9/07. If the vehicle build date is close then I would HVBOM the VIN and get the engine serial number and build date.
