  1. Holy cow! I was reading this and thought we were going to be soldering these things... but it looks like we are going to be repairing them in a sense... as we discussed.
  2. Anyone see this yet? I attached it for quick viewing. It's about testing tap water for hardness, pH and Chloride to determine if it is safe to use in cooling systems. Another test strip kit. Who is using tap water and who is using something else in bottles?
  3. What is with Ford piping in engine sound lately? They did this on the SHO to improve the experience for the driver. Seems a little much to me. I get it but... I don't. It's like adding dual exhaust tips with one pipe not connected and there just for looks.
  4. 55 kilopascals = a smidge under 8 PSI when converted
  5. There is a mechanical gauge for checking FUEL RAIL pressure?
  6. Good to know! I havent come across this yet but I will keep this in mind... or try to.
  7. Remember though, without advances in software (browsers) things would be boring. As a Webmaster there are a lot of cool things I can do... but I do consider users with older hardware and software. Besides, I like to keep things a little toward the simple side. Furthermore, IE6 doesn't have the security features 7 & 8 do. In keeping with the topic, I think it is asinine to have to backdate my OS and web browser just to be able to use Ford's equipment and website. I realize it is difficult to stay current sometimes but it irks me when it takes Ford too long to catch up.
  8. 3 years unlimited miles sir! YAY! Ford offers 12 months or 12,000 miles on a new tank. BOO!
  9. I got this one! Ahhhhh, just hit it with some Brakleen and dry it off with compressed air. Then take a some of that nice gray silicone sealant and pack it around the line completely covering the seal. Mark my words. Some day ONE of us is going to come across this.
  10. Look at this topic and see if it is the same problem http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6600#Post6600
  11. Well since we cant get fuel tanks we had this one reconditioned. First, they cut a hole in each side to allow the inside to be sandblasted to remove rust and the factory coating. I imagine the roughed up surface also improves adhesion of the new coating. Then the holes are welded closed and then the tank is coated inside and out with different coatings but they appear to be some kind of an epoxy. It ain't pretty but it shouldn't rust.
  12. SSM = Special Service Message TSB = Technical Service Bulletin FSA = Field Service Action (recall)
  13. Conditions affecting Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Shelf Life and Fluid Quality See the attached file which you can download and keep for reference. The following communication provides clarification and guidelines on DEF and the proper storage levels to maintain the chemical concentrations advertised on the label.
  14. I ordered the VCM only because I had a laptop that was suitable... when I ordered mine it came with everything, the VCM, software disk, the VCM to vehicle cable and the VCM to PC USB cable. I recall being the lucky one to un-box the dealership's first IDS full kit with the Panasonic Toughbook and everything was included for that as well.
  15. Looks like on 6/7/2010 we are back to 33 hours?
  16. CRC Mass Air sensor cleaner is formulated specifically to clean these senors. Chemicals like carb cleaner or brakleen will damage the coatings on them. I have been using the CRC MAF cleaner for several years now with no problems.
  17. Mike, the second picture shows the broken piece of aluminum from the case wedged between the timing chain and the crank sprocket. The third picture shows the inside of the cover with a red circle around the broken casting - compare it to the nub on the opposing side that is still intact. The fourth picture is a close-up of the broken casting where the idler pulley bolt up... where the incorrect pulley/bolt was too long. To answer your question yes, Brad broke the cover with the pulley bolt but I have a feeling you realize this now.
  18. I am still enjoying the experience of fatherhood watching my little girls grow up. I still haven't gotten far with my house as far as updating "stuff" but I did just set my horseshoe stakes in concrete. It sucks when you toss a ringer and the stake is loose enough to bounce the horseshoe out of the box! We keep a freshwater aquarium. I recently discovered what looks like eggs all over the riser to one of my power heads and both of my angel fish are being very protective of the deposit. Long time ago we had a pair of mollies mate which resulted in fry. Mollies are live-bearing fish meaning they don't lay eggs. If any of these eggs survive and actually hatch it will be neat for our girls to watch. We shall see what comes of this. I also have become an RC aviator. I just bought my first RC helicopter. I know, I should have picked something hard to learn to fly right? And I thought my profession was stressful! And since last summer's camping trip with the girls went so well we are going again. This time my brother and sister will be joining us with their kids. I hope all of the cousins enjoy this trip. It could be a wonderful memory for them and perhaps the start of many more trips together. Funny how we seem to see family more importantly as we get older.
  19. A few years ago Greg H started a topic: "What do you do away from work?" which was interesting to learn what other members do on "their time." Since we have some new members I thought we might have a part 2 and catch up!
