Derate Temperature
Keith Browning replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
No, engine temperature... BUT NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT I am not sure because fuel temperature sounds familiar too. We were given a number in training was hoping I was not the only one who wrote it down. I am sure I will find it eventually. Cooling Protection Strategy The cooling protection strategy is activated by the PCM only in the event that a significant overheating condition has been identified. The ECT and EOT sensors are used as input sensors to determine if the engine is overheating. In the event the PCM has activated the cooling protection strategy, the PCM will then start to derate the engine torque and limit fuel to the engine. When the cooling protection strategy is activated the temperature gauge will indicate the engine is overheating. This strategy provides engine temperature control when the engine coolant temperature exceeds certain limits. A cooling system failure such as low coolant or coolant loss could cause an overheating condition. As a result, damage to major engine components could occur. If the overheating condition continues and a critical temperature is reached, all fuel injectors are turned off and the engine is disabled. -
They are looking to see if this truck has been maintained.

Keith Browning replied to Keith Browning's topic in Parts
Oh, sorry about that folks, we had our heads up our asses for a moment... -
What? No names on those caps? How cool would Jim look with "Jimbo" in block lettering?

I couldnt find it...

Got a pic? I am putting together a lot of new photos for the site, this would be an interesting one.

Not sure I would be so quick to state that I was sitting home polishing my head.

Stop Sale on 3C3Z-9H529-A–6.0L IPR Screen Kit

Have fun getting claims paid for an IPR. This is only an FMC Dealer article, not an SSM or TSB... at least I can't find one at this very moment. -
How old is your desktopper Jim? IE now has a lot of filters and tools that can be turned off. I remember before I replaced my PC I turned off all the security filters and it helped I can also tell you that IE8 renders some web pages differently. I had to make a couple of changes to all of my sites to fix a few things. I don't look at it as problems as much as I see it as growing pains. When it comes to the computers we use, the hardware is not the only part of the evolution that MUST happen. Software evolves too allowing the newer more powerful computers to do more. I guess it is all in how we adapt and evolve with it. Remember, I am the moron that pushed his main PC to over 9 years of service.

I thought it was a decent race. The larger restrictor plates seemed to be effective in giving the drivers back a little more control and throttle response. Did I hear correctly that NASCAR is dropping the wing and going back to spoilers? is this full time or certain tracks?

Fantastic ending to a drawn out conclusion. I love the emotion and passion some of these guys exhibit. Dale? Wow! He almost pulled a Harvick! -

I was handed a 4-tip plug in training. -
32 bit may be the key to some programs working as opposed to 64 bit... there are reports of older programs not running right with 64 bit OS. I am not confident that Ford's web sites and their applications are easily adaptable and Ford seems to drag thier feet when it comes to being compliant with newer operating systems and, well web browsers too.

**FIXED!!**Anyone deal with U-Haul trucks??
Keith Browning replied to DamageINC's topic in Body, Chassis and Electrical
Excellent concept and one I sometimes insist on because quite often a body builder has someone wire up the lighting without any consideration to weatherizing connections. From using sealing shrink wrap to packing connectors with grease. I have ripped out and replaced many body harnesses here in NJ where sometimes there is more rock salt on the ground than snow! -
So if you have taken any of the training or read the new materials on the 2011 Super Duty you should be aware that oil service intervals are now calculated by algorithm based in operation conditions as monitored by the PCM(?) and oil life information is displayed on the IC. It will be interesting to see the mileages this brings trucks in for servicing. But that is dependant on whether the operator pays any attention to the meter at all. And what of those windshield stickies we dutifully fill out and place on the windshield... are they outdated? I think most owners will still go by the usual mileage intervals excepting the guys that know better and test their oil samples and push it to the limit... only to have something to talk about with his buddies or on the Internet.

The pictures do a much better job of telling the story, I got so bored reading that I dozed off and my chair lost balance and I fell backward striking my head on my aquarium, then the floor. At one of my dealer's other stores someone apparently put a hand where is didn't belong when somebody else turned the ignition, or something like that. The loss of a finger supposedly resulted in a lawsuit. The lawsuit resulted in OSHA training FOR THE REST OF US and we won't be allowed to have keys in vehicles in the shop, use lockout boxes and all kinds of silly inconvenient rules and actions. (cant give details because my turn has been postponed 2X due to weather) I am all for safety but sometimes this stuff goes overboard. Stupid is as stupid does.

08 550 looses power after reaching 75mph.
Keith Browning replied to kevin41's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I was thinking along the same lines Aaron but he stated that the truck "runs bad" which made me think it is more than a de-rate situation. kevin41 do you have a more detailed description than "runs bad" like misfires, runs rough, smokes or does it simply lose power? -

What is the IPR% and LOAD% at hot idle?

They are too long and thin which makes them look like Virginia Slims... a brand marketed and favored by women. Not very manly in my opinion. I wonder if anyone has pointed that out to the owner!
