  1. HELP! We can't find a listing for the 8mm/1.25 70mm long head bolts along the top of the 6.0L heads. I was distracted while torquing one of them and I kept turning it till it snapped. It didn't take much. Fortunately I was able to insert the top of the bolt and spin it back out.
  2. It is nice getting a new computer isn't it? Especially for morons like me that wait 9 years. I havent yelled at a computer in over a month!
  3. Looks like a very short line Jimmy! There's no linkie!
  4. I believe STARS is experiencing some serious malfunctions. I went to view my course status while logged into My Training and it won't come up. When I passed the 6.7L web based course it did not show in STARS either or it took a few days longer than usual. My manager had to so some calling to get me enrolled and then we learned from our FSE that HE had to manually select me and enroll me for the classroom. Also, when I went to print my certificate there some some computer error codes in place of the course name. Maybe they will issue a TSB.
  5. You are now in a much different world compared to the dealership where you had everything available to you. Eh?
  6. Well it looks as though we are finally arriving at the start of the classroom training - of course you need to have all of the pre-requisites completed and the 6.7L web based class completed too. My FSE was sin last week and he had just taken the classroom instruction. I was already enrolled however I understand that Ford is being selective about filling the classes, or at least for now. It seems they want to either chose select technicians or more likely ensure every dealer has at least one tech trained as soon as possible. I am in but those who end up on the wait list may be there for a while. It stands to note that completing the pre-requisites and getting signed up quickly will improve your chances of getting in early. Not sure if this applies to the guys in Canada. By the way a big thank you goes out to the members that informed us of the development of the training and for letting us know the web course was released... days before it was announced. I believe a lot of us here passed the course before it was officially announced the following Monday?
  7. Sounds like he's got it narrowed down now. Good find! Just a side note, the new pressure and flow tester should have shown that there is air in the fuel. Usually you will see it when you have an injector leaking combustion gasses past the pintle but if you want to check the supply system for aeration simply install the flow tester, use IDS to command the fuel pump on (engine off) and open the valve, wait a minute or two to purge any air created by installing the tool or created by the engine. Observe the clear drain hose of the tool. If you have air then you start working your way back... This is something I look for every time I check fuel pressure and it is a good habit to adopt. That pressure and flow tool has proven to be quite valuable.
  8. Okay, it's about time I fess up. Last summer I backed into the Snap-On dealer's truck as I pulled a dump truck out of my shop. Granted, that day he had parked the truck almost in the middle if the fire lane behind the shop in the busiest area of the parking lot. When I back out of my bay I can't see much and I have traffic coming at me from any of 4 possible directions, 3 of which are blind. I KNEW the truck was there, in fact, I had just been talking to the tool man. The truck was a 1997 F-Super Duty, mason dump with those little extended side tow mirrors that were turned to the inside of the mirror frames and pointed inward. As I backed out from my blind spots, my attention was diverted to a co-worker who suddenly appeared to my left walking toward the shop... then BOOM!
  9. For some of us keeping our pant ON is a good thing!
  10. http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/publications/tsb10-02-06.pdf
  11. I could just put it on the server here...
  12. Jim, the PDF file is more than 25MB! That is larger than most email boxes and greater than the file attachment limit here... How bad do you want/need it?
  13. blueovaltechs.com seems to have gone away? I have not been able to load the site for a couple of weeks and now we get a Go Daddy placeholder...
  14. It will minute it gets pushed into your service bay.
  15. Thank you Larry! When you say "outer repair plug" you mean the engine harness connector at the valve cover? Is this just the hardshell or is this a repair pig-tail?
  16. That's right, I said NEGATIVE fuel pressure. Had one not long ago with a rusted fuel tank and clogged filters. During diagnostics when I road tested with the fuel pressure gage it started to read vacuum... went as high as 12" if my memory serves me. I was under the impression the 6.4L would not run with 0 fuel pressure and here I see a vacuum! Yes, it ran poorly and supposedly would stall.
  17. 3c3z 14a187-aa it is! You Sir just earned a bucket of chicken wings and a pitcher of beer!
  18. We ended up with a new fuse panel for a 2001 F350. We then removed the outer cover where the fuses and relays insert and added fuse terminals from the old fuse box that were missing in the new one. Then we opened up the wiring manual to the fuse and relay chart and installed them accordingly. Like magic.
  19. +1 I have seen both the breather hose and the intake tube deteriorate and come apart. Perhaps a handful over the last couple of years on older trucks... 2003/2004 models. Replace them as a set.
  20. I need the part number for that special bolt that secures the transmission harness to the solenoid body connector on the right side of the transmission. Yep. I broke it and it didn't take much My parts guy cant find it in the listing... said he would e-mail Ford though. You CAN'T tell me that doesn't come separately and I need to buy a harness!
  21. And for that price I would not even consider the purchase. As it id IDS is tough to swallow. AS for dealers not buying it I don't see how they can get away with not buying it.
  22. Long story short I reformatted the HD on my IDS PC and reloaded everything fresh. When I got to downloading the MD Truck software Master Diagnostics has apparently been replaced by Service Maxx. Everything loaded okay however when I open the program I get the following message: Has anyone loaded this new software and will the IC4 cable work with it? Since We no longer have any trucks in production that use Navistar engines there is little point in purchasing the cables listed. I thought I had a copy of the last Master Diagnostics software if I need to revert back to it... not sure where I had it though. Anyone recall tha last version that was released?
  23. I would think that the VCM will be around for some time. BUT, I took a poll on the PTS website last fall that questioned our use of the VCM ans the VMM. There were questions/statements that eluded to giving me the impression that the next scan tool is in fact in development and that it may combine the functions of the VCM with the VCM in one interface tool... at least that is the strong impression i got from it. I couldn't tell ya what they are working on. PDS is at the end or near the end of it's life as far as support is concerned.
  24. It is in the shop manual... 0.028" - 0.032" for the clearance shown above.
