  1. Good advice Greg, however, most technicians get rattled because a job like this almost always results in negative productivity. When something affects our bottom line it becomes DEEPLY emotional. Also, this engine is more than just nuts and bolts, there are a lot of details that need attention such as assembly procedures and torquing patterns. It makes the best of us slow way down... it makes the best of us consider the consequences of our workmanship is allowed to slip.
  2. We can, and perhaps should discuss this in detail. What I think you NEED to do first is open up the PCED and go to the Injector Interrupt for Enhanced Diagnostics found in the Diagnostic Subroutines Sub tab. The HotLine wants the results of that test.
  3. They will blame BRAD. At least for any valve seat failures they will.
  4. Now you did it BRAD!!! Just curse us all before the damn thing is even in production why dontcha? I have your number pal!
  5. Well, I personally like to see a system hold air. I never did verify this one and it held for me. According to Ford's specifications even 30 PSI over night is acceptable so unless I can easily find something... maybe it is intermittent and will show up again with a real leak.
  6. It is a little odd looking if you have never seen this type of lift.
  7. Am I the only tech that spills fuel every damn time I change the secondary fuel filter on these things? As you know the filter lid is quite tall and fuel has nowhere to go but over the edge... now I have tried opening the water drain... replacing the primary filter first but I still have a full housing on top! Yeah, I use a turkey baster to empty the housing before the new filter goes in. Other wise I usually add insult to injury. Any tips or experiences?
  8. Anything you can smuggle or post here would be great too!
  9. It all depends on WHY the site has been blocked. There are four good reasons I can come up with immediately and all are reasonably understandable where a company or corporate IT department is concerned about security or company policy regarding Internet use. Sometimes these changes can occur when new network systems, components or software is installed and or settings are changed. Here are a few possibilities: [*]A site may be singled out and placed on a block list. This can be for any reason. . [*]A website may not have been placed on an accepted site list and is being filtered out or blocked as a result. . [*]A website's URL or I.P. address has been blocked or blacklisted. Many sites like the DTS website are hosted on a shared server. This means hundreds or even thousands of websites share an I.P. address any one of which may be black listed which can affect all of the other websites on that server. . [*]Your company server or PC's may have content filters on them. The fact that the DTS censor was turned off means that all of you who like to drop "F-bombs" and use other inappropriate language in your posts are possibly triggering these filters. If the DTS website is blocked in your workplace asking your IT director about the topic might help. I realize that is sometimes not a wise choice or management may frown upon surfing during work hours - even on lunch or coffee breaks. Hey, it is their system right? Lastly, if this is a profanity or content issue related to the foul language displayed in some posts here, I can re-implement the censor and maybe cleanse the database...
  10. Yeah, but if you want to really impress us try that set up without a hoist!
  11. So why do you still do it? I caught on years ago that pretty much EVERY time my lower back felt like a knife had been jammed in it it was after pulling wheels off and lifting them back on... these would be the offset dually wheels on vans. For the most part I now remove the lugs and lower the truck and pop the wheels off, roll them around the truck to rotate or lay on the floor whilst I work. I have far fewer complaints when it comes to my back now. Jim my friend, you quit smoking which is VERY hard to do. Deciding not to, and not handling wheels like you do, should be really easy.
  12. Oh wait, that's HOCKEY! Silly me, the clubs and sticks are shaped similarly.
  13. Real golfers paint their balls black for the winter.
  14. Oh, a little F.Y.I for you boys - Any time you have to fill out and submit prior approval forms you can claim labor operation 6005PA - 0.3 hrs Hey, every tenth counts!
  15. Hey Forest? I used to throw my back out by sneezing. I had a misalignment in the middle of my spine and if I sneezed really hard it was enough to cause pain, pain that got worse every time I took a breath. Fortunately my back has not given me many major problems in quite a few years now... ...running off to find some wood to knock!
  16. Sometimes that alone is the problem depending on the definition of "big" as it applies to the individual.
  17. Customer concern: "Losing 30 PSI from air brakes over night, when the pressure gets down to 90 PSI you can hear a leak." I get this truck in, it had air in the tanks. Before I went home I set the pressure to 85 PSI. This morning the gages were in the same place. The service manual states "System Leakage - With the engine stopped and the air reservoirs charged to governor cutout pressure (897 kPa [130 psi] maximum), the rate of pressure drop shall not exceed 7 kPa (1.0 psi) per minute with the service brakes released and spring brakes applied." Am I wasting my time with this or what? I will continue to monitor...
  18. The glow plug connectors look like they have the potential to be a real booger if the o-rings stick in the bores.
  19. Read the attached file for the complete details. This information was originally posted on FMC Dealer and now resides on the PTS website. Here is the SSM as well:
