So Jim? Did you take the new car or the all expenses paid trip to Hawaii? -
6.7L PSD Coffee Table Book
Keith Browning replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
How did you manage that? Hey, you and Jim can start a club! -
Since that is not too far off topic here it is good advice. We discussed these tools HERE This is the picture and part number for them. You won't find them in the catalog and you will have to call Rotunda and ask for them. 1-800-ROTUNDA. I had trouble finding "fittings" to make the adapter so we finally purchased another set. I have an old ICP sensor that is good that I just leave in the adapter which saves time.

6.7L PSD Coffee Table Book

Nice job Josh. It will be interesting to see if your post gets removed as well. My guess the topic might be viewed as putting Ford in a negative light or not wanting to be tied to Navistar anymore. Perhaps it may be due to the fact that the topic is about internal corporate dealings and not up for discussion. That is what I surmise. I didn't make that post to stir the pot or start trouble. I just wanted to bring a little attention to the subject. Nice to see it caught on. To answer your question Brad there were 6 replies as I recall - all FOR the continuation of the Coffee Table Books and agreeable comments about their value and usage. Unless there were other posts made that would have been disruptive... but then wouldn't the Webmaster remove only those posts? Ah. I tried. Sometimes that is all you can do! -

... and the topic was deleted in less than 24 hours. And some guys ask why I started this forum. Apparently there are many things you simply cant talk about. Elegant. -
Rob I would recommend that you begin making a list of tools that you need that are missing from your dealership and present the list to your management. You can't do your job efficiently without some of this stuff.

I just LOVE when they come to you for an answer or a diagnosis and then tell YOU that you are wrong.

What did i get myself into??
Keith Browning replied to robp823's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Knowing EXACTLY the implications of this statement I would have run from the truck. I think the guy that bought the truck should be asking himself "what did I get myself into?" -
Sounds to me like an IPR but I would definitely check the ICP voltages as Bruce said before replacing anything. I base this on my own experience and that I have had more bad IPRs than ICP sensors on 7.3L engines believe it or not but a biased ICP will directly affect the IPR.

6.7 Powerstoke initial thoughts
Keith Browning replied to Brad Clayton's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I thought the E Series was not going to have a diesel option anymore after the supply of 6.0L engines run out... but I did see an article showing a Chevy van with a Duramax in it. -
Just for the record the lactating lady did not expose herself. If my tongue was out it was because my jaw dropped as I was simply dumbfounded by this.

I took Jim's suggestion about making a post on FMC Dealer Message Boards about the 6.7L Coffee Table Book not being made. This was mentioned in another topic. Here is the post I made... just in case it gets "lost." I wonder what the response will be?

As Larry kindly depicted, a little heat helps. You need a small 2-jaw puller. I have broken 1 and successfully removed the last 2.

NOW I Have Seen EVERYTHING! I have seen people do many things while driving. Eating, smoking, drinking, doing drugs, applying make-up, reading, texting, shaving, talking on the phone and of course, picking their nose... am sure the list can grow if I sit and ponder this a while. Mind you these are all things that we can SEE happening. Think about that for a minute. This evening while driving home I was followed by a blue Dodge Caravan for some time along a long windy two lane road leaving Morristown. I come to an intersection where the traffic is controlled by a stop sign and traffic backs up so there is a bout 10 minutes of braking and creeping along. Naturally this is when we start surveying the landscape and the asshole in the car behind us. Remember, I am in New Jersey so everyone on the road (except me) is an asshole. Right Bruce? So I am watching this lady in the caravan for a moment when she looks down, picks up her shirt and pulls out a fucking BREAST PUMP! Imagine that. Milking herself while driving home from work. I watched her unscrew the top with the cone and gently tap the drips of milk into the bottle then place a cap on the bottle then place the cone into a plastic Zip-Lock. I could see the vacuum line too. Guess what? The other breast was loaded too. I got to watch the same scene play out a second time. She followed me on the next road and pulled of into a daycare center. Who would have thought? Fast food for infants! Somebody toss me a damn Oreo!!!

Oh no! He found out our secret!!! Now he must be silenced... stay right where you are Mike, some nice men are coming to visit you. -
You mean we are in for some more flaming Fords?
-
Beleive it or not, those books are extremely valuable for many reasons and not only for Ford technicians but for anyone that requires product familiarity AND consumers alike. I refer to most of the ones in our collection often and in looking at the hit numbers other people do too. Is there anything we can do as technicians to voice an our need for these booklets to continue?

Awesome article! I guess it is safe to assume the engine will continue to carry the Power Stroke badge... maybe I should change the forum title now.

Holy shit! I forgot the frightening scream those Detroit diesels make when they run away. When I was at Engine City Tech one of the other groups in my engine class failed to set up the fuel racks correctly. I was 19 at the time and it scared the piss out of me. The instructors there knew exactly what they were doing. There was a large CO2 extinguisher outside near the engines any time we fired one up. Makes ya wonder how many times that had happened there. I am amazed that they don't quickly blow up and they don't even have ARP studs! Thanx for the fire extiguisher tip Jim!

listening skills not needed anymore
Keith Browning replied to Brad Clayton's topic in The Water Cooler
Man! We sell a lot of work off of those and sometimes customers come back knowing they need something. Imagine that would ya? What kills me is that our management PAYS US .3 to perform them and there is always someone who still can't muster the effort to do it correctly. It amazes me! -
I forgot Bruce hibernates in the Winter... somewhere near the tropics.

Ambulance runs like s#@t on 1,3,5,7 cyls
Keith Browning replied to kellyf's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Yes, good job! I seem to have attracted a lot of Econolines needing injectors lately. It is definitely having a negative affect on my morale. -
Jim, I used to read the funny pages until I got married. Now, life is funnier than fiction. That was one of my favorite strips though! Perhaps I will resurrect the old Sunday ritual. The Sundie funnies are in COLOR! To jump into the topic I beleive my shop has seen two repeat headgasket repairs to date.

Kelly by what you reposrt I would bet on injectors myself if all other diagnostics pass. I currently have a van in my bay that was recently in for a no start that needed injectors on bank 2. It has come back and now it lacks power cold but runs great hot. It needed the injectors in bank 1 to correct that issue. Since I did not get to drive this van with the original injectors my guess it recently ran poorly cold before one injector failed on bank 2 causing the no start. I would still pay attention to the fuel filters and the tank as suggested. The fuel tanks in these trucks rust...
