  1. I think the better question is where did the fuel and oil come from? Did you just perform an engine repair that that involved fluid in the charge air cooler? Did the engine fail?
  2. Ah! They just posted it, it wasn't there when I left work. Eeeeeeesh! This is going to be ugly. If working on those damn things wasn't painful enough, now they are extending the warranty as part of the settlement.
  3. What is that odor? *sniff* *sniff* Hey! That smells just like sarcasm!!!
  4. You say you have McAffee? They have a lot of helpful information on their website. If you have a subscription with them for your software they may be able to help you!
  5. What are the details? Any links to articles??? Severed craniums want to know!
  6. If it is not an old laptop a new hard drive is not all that expensive or difficult to replace. What makes you think that the hard drive is bad or you have a virus?
  7. Well if you are going to consider pulling the injectors it would be in your best interest to perform a compression test while the covers are off before doing anything. That will establish the condition of the engine.
  8. I think I prefer Michelins now as they have proven to me to be outstanding. My 2001 Explorer got a set of them during the Firestone recall and that was a little more than 70,000 miles ago. They still have about 6 32/nds" of tread on them and were wearing perfectly until recently when I discovered my lower ball joints were loosening. Even so, the wear I am seeing is minimal. These Continental tires are garbage.
  9. Considering all the gripes we read about the last FREE jacket do you think they will sell many? It's $160. "This is a stunning custom made leather jacket featuring an image of Ford's Super Duty truck, the words "6.4L Power Stroke Diesel Certified" and the PTS logo."
  10. You guys REALLY want a Warranty forum?
  11. I would add a forum for anything needed but you cant add everything and anything. Besides, I don't think we have any administrators aboard. We did have one Ford Warranty person join but like many members that log in regularly we will never see a post from them. I do think that there needs to be more discussion about writing warranty repair orders where technicians are concerned. In my own dealership I see some pretty lame write ups that I cant see passing scrutiny. Whether it be here, the ford website or maybe even a new web-based course I really think this needs to be discussed and taught. Think about it. As for what some of you guys up in Canada are experiencing it sounds like there are some warranty managers that have their heads up their asses. If you guys are providing the documentation you say you are I don't see the problem. Honestly. We went through a period that it seemed like claims were being bounced just for the hell of it, like they had a game board spinner that told them to pay the claim or deny it.
  12. My 2007 Freestyle AWD equipped with Continental Conti-Track Touring P215/65R17's tires has a tire issue. I noticed that the tires are almost gone! It only has 16,000 miles on it and I rotate the tires every service the same as I do with my 2001 Explorer AWD. We are looking at about 5 or 6 32nds and the wear is even but wearing on the outer edges a little more. I am aware of the TSB on pre-mature tire wear but that only deals with the 18" Pirelli tires. I have complained about the alignment once when the vehicle was new, it drifts left against the road crown at slow speeds but handles very nicely most of the time. The alignment was checked and supposedly adjusted. At the time we did not have a functioning alignment rack so it was subleted. I searched the Net and came up with A LOT of complaints about Continental and Pirelli tires on Freestyles.. also on myfordfreestyle.com. Yes, there is a website for them too! Do you fellas see this issue much? Am I out of line with thinking these tires should last longer? My wife drives the Freestyle, mostly around town shuttling the girls around and she is not hard on it in any way in my opinion.
  13. Looks like a good number to me...
  14. You have to use the new TSB because it supersedes the previous one. I am not positive but I don't think the RO date is as important as the claim submission date. I just finished one up myself and we used the new TSB because we had one or two claims bounce in the past in this situation. I wish I could remember for sure. The oil cooler kit is just the heat exchanger, not the entire oil cooler. Yes, you are now rebuilding it.
  15. Yes, if you only write "diagnosed and repaired as per TSB #" the claim by all rights should bounce. You still need to write up the general diagnostic steps followed and the test results followed by the repair steps taken. You don't need to be overly verbose but at least minimally accurate. Something close to the labor operation description for example will suffice. Aside from warranty eligibility and whether the TSB is the proper or suitable repair you shouldn't have problems... I would think. Let us not forget that despite the TSB, we still need to cover the basics: "Concern, Cause and Correction" still need to be documented.
  16. OPs 081103-A,B and E come to 24.9 - add 4.0 for the turbo as per TSB 081613-F and you get 28.9 hours. If you are not getting paid what you should be because your warranty/dealer administration is not doing their job then you do have something to be angry about. I would be! My dealer is careful about what we claim but the work is what it is. We are honest and properly repair these vehicles. Ford can stick their 126 reports... We cant control the quality of their product nor can we control how many of the shit buckets get dragged into our dealerships.
  17. Well I just happened to be finishing up a head gasket job that actually had a bad EBP and a rusted turbo to boot. I had already coded it out with TSB 08-11-03 for the coolant loss and TSB 08-16-13 which came to 28.9 hours. The new TSB 09-8-3 rearranged some of the operations and the times accordingly. Ford also added operations for reconditioning the turbo and replacing the CRH if needed. Recoding my repair with the new TSB comes to 26.3 for a total difference of 2.6 hours... which accounts for an overlap... read on. If you look at this from the perspective that you used to have to claim two TSB's, one for the coolant loss and the other for the turbocharger, technically we were getting a nice overlap since the turbo was already out of the truck. I really don't see this as a major hit in all fairness. Yes, I like to get paid and I think Ford is really trimming things where they can, but we really cant say this is unfair or get all worked up over it.
  18. Same here but I do remember the bolt head rounding off once or twice which is why it is good to restate that a worn socket or wrench is a really bad thing to have at this moment.
  19. I thought it was "(singing) No stems no seeds that you don't need Acapulco gold is (BIGTOKE) bad ass weed."
  20. I thought YOU were the resident parts guru with resource tentacles reaching far and wide?
